The Blackbird SB is quite deceptive with blade feel as the bottom-plate is what, I believe, most folks are feeling instead of the blade. Granted, you can feel the blade, of course, but it isn't as aggressive as you are hearing. It is more effective than aggressive, in my opinion.
Having said this, I would recommend the Polished version as it seems to have the least pronounced bottom-plate feel seeing as it is polished, whereas the other two coating are not.

Regarding the new RazorRock Mamba, I also did not care for the handle as it is a bit too heavy for the head. I have been using my Stork Titanium handles, especially, the Ex Titanium and it works beautifully with the Mamba head.
I still find this razor a bit too mild for my face shaves, but it is providing me with superb head shaves, for some reason. Smile

Interesting info. Perhaps I'll have to try the Blackbird one day. I'm going to continue to listen to reviews about the Mamba for now and yours I take highly. Its one thing for the razor to be mild, its another for it to not be efficient. Thats the key for me I want both and it has taken me sampling many many razors to find my two goldilocks razors so far, with me using several others just for fun, but not getting as great of shaves from them (Multiple Injectors and Gems which are smooth but don't give me BBS like my wolfman/timeless).

In all honesty, if you are happy with your Timeless and Wolfman, then there is no need to try the Mamba. The only reason I would recommend it is if you only want to experiment with a very well-made and inexpensive stainless steel razor.
Good luck with your decision. Smile

Mamba (Halo handle), Super Max BDT. With two shims the Mamba is still a very mild razor but managed just fine a two pass plus BBS head shave which is what I expect from a mild razor. Next head shave will try without the shims.[Image: 88a3dcd97c940644db265417d14b6a70.jpg]
