Seems they weren't happy with the first iteration of the Wunderbar either as they'll be serving it up with a lighter handle when it is released again sometime later this month. I imagine weight distribution and balance are an even bigger issue with an aggressive slant.

This is an adjustable length handle, unscrew the end piece and it gets almost a half inch shorter.

Ah, so thats the adjustability referred to on the website. I was curious about that as there isn't obvious adjustibilty in a traditional 3 piece DE razor. Thanks

You can also change up the balance of the razor by putting the handle on backwards. If you unscrew the knob on the bottom, you are able to screw the head of the razor to the bottom of the handle. It shifts more weight towards the head. You can also screw the knob back on the top of the handle.

Its kind of funny that the head is so light considering that the original Mamba's head was so so heavy.

I prefer the new version but might try the RR bamboo handle that I got for $10.

Can anyone compare the new mamba to the recently released baby smooth? I didn't pull the trigger on the first batch of mambas as I did not enjoy the baby smooth. Does the mamba curve the blade like the baby smooth?

I’ve used the Wunderbar a number of times, with both the original handle and a lighter one. It’s a great razor, and the difference wasn’t huge, but the lighter handle was definitely better in my opinion.

The idea of an adjustable handle is of course something that had to be realized sooner or later. Smile I’m sure that functionality will benefit some users.

used the mamba without the bottom part today. I think (i am not sure though) I like it better this way. Great shave anyway.

I haven’t figured out how to shave ATG on my right neck (my trouble spot), without slight discomfort. But its only two days, so let’s see.

I will be shaving with it in an hour or so for the first time, from what I can see visual wise no it does not have the blade curve like the BBS. I know what you mean regarding the BBS blade curve, I had issue the first couple of shaves too but then I realized that riding the cap is the way to go and every since I changed up a bit the BBS shaves excellent and irritation free, I have the Ti version and it should be the same as the aluminum one.

So...how did the shave go?

I used the Mamba yesterday and today and its a beautiful, smooth shaving razor. Gorgeous finish at a great price. I don't have any other razor thats as nice at this price point.

Yesterday I loaded a 5-use old Feather and found it very smooth but realized that the Feather was finished so today I put in a brand new Feather and it did a wonderful, smooth and comfortable damn fine shave. Used B&M Hallows.

The razor looks very similar to the Black Mamba as far as the head/blade geometry goes but I'd say the mamba is a little smoother and slightly more comfortable. It also uses the same posts on the base plate system that the black mamba has. Its not a particularly aggressive razor but it still gives you a smooth, drama free shave. It does not curve the blade as much as the baby smooth.

I've heard other users say they think the handle is too heavy but that is a matter of personal preference and I find it to be fine with the base knob attached but I will give it a go tomorrow with the knob removed to see what thats like too.

I really like the grooves machined into the handle - they're deep enough to give you some grip so there are no issues holding on to the really smooth and shiny handle and the corners of the grooves have been polished just enough so that they do not feel sharp like an unpolished machine groove feels and which I've seen on some handles - ATT comes to mind.

I think Joe put a lot of thought into this design and it was really worth the wait. He also made sure he had sufficient units on hand before releasing it so that virtually everybody who wanted one could get one. It didn't sell out for several days so if you wanted one and missed out thats on you and not Joe.

It went really good, on the mildish side but its efficient. Shave wise is very comfortable and allows for very fast shaves and feels like it will never cut you. Extremely good razor and no need to ride the cap like with the bbs
