its a birdie dude, just a birdie... don't make elephant out of an ant lol

What is a "birdie"?

Also, it's not really about making a mountain out of a mole hill, I was just curious and wanted to verify claims being thrown around, to see whether they were just rumors or facts. A number of things have been clarified thanks to posters in this thread.

There's a phrase "A little birdie told me..." Birdie refers to an insider or someone who is "in the know".

In all fairness to Blago, I don't think he's very fluent in English (especially colloquialisms), although I'm sure most of us are even less fluent in his native tongue. Yeah, his post was snarky, but I doubt that's what he intended.

That I can understand, but English is not my primary language either. If I would of pin it down against the 4 languages I speak then English would be in 2nd or 3rd place fluently wise... I know how it is to type in one language while thinking in your own motherly language, mistakes can happen.

If my memory serves me well the phrase Birdie told me was very common where I come from.... All I'm saying little common sense wont hurt anyone and some people take new released razors info way too serious lol

I mean how hard was to read between the lines when I wrote " Canadian Birdie told me"

Question for anyone who shaved with both: How does the Black Mamba compare to the (Ti/Alu) Baby Smooth?

I've only shaved with a Ti Baby Smooth, and none of the Mamba models yet. I keep seeing people refer to the Mamba as "very similar" to the BS, but it can't be so similar if they are two different products. Any idea?

(This post is also assuming the new Mamba will shave about the same as the Black Mamba)

I used both of the originals. The head geometry is different. I found that the BS you don't need to find the angle, it just comes natural, with the Mamba you have to find the correct angle. The original Mamba had a very heavy base plate, combined with the OSS handle, it was a very heavy razor. The new one will be lighter because of a thinner base plate and different handle. The one area where they 2 razors are somewhat similar is in blade feel. I think it is because they both have a very significant gap (waste gate) to let the soap through. I think its the gap between the safety bar and the rest of the base plate that helps make both razors really efficient. I'm looking forward to the new Mamba because I found the original too heavy.

$49.99!!! How is he able to make it for so cheap and make a decent profit? What a value.

He does it.

The Baby Smooth was built not to wipe away a 4 day beard but as a wonderful daily driver which it is. The Mamba does need a bit of concentration to find the correct angle but it's a nice shaver. Joe markets well but not every product is a game changer...just his prices. Those prices are enough to irritate many on another shave forum.
