The Merkur VISION

Hello good folks of the wet shaving community. Just want to share that I recently purchased a Merkur VISION and although it was very intimidating, I ended up having such a wonderful, comfortable, and extremely close shave after finding the right angle and adjustment setting on the razor. And for some reason when I shaved against the grain, it was smoother than I thought. When I used the alum block after the shave I surprisingly had no stinging feedback. Overall, in my opinion if you can get your hands on a Merkur VISION… get it! ?

The Vision is generally thought of as unobtanium, although I guess there is a very small secondary market. Congrats on the acquisition. I’m glad you enjoy it.

Don’t forget that the Vision requires periodic maintenance to prolong its life.

My apologies for the late response. And Thank you for your comment. I actually clean all my razors when I’m done with the shave.

It’s a very good razor but for me the large bulky head makes it a chore to shave under the nose. I guess if you maintain a certain moustache, shave your dome or legs it might be fantastic but not for me. Congrats on your new acquisition and keep it clean (there are probably videos of its disassembly for regular maintenance).

I've come close to letting this one go on an occasion or two. But, I just haven't been able to let it go. No, it doesn't shave better than other adjustables and the Sailor plus Taiga got this razor beat mano a mano. The looks though and the feel give it something a little extra that no other razor in my line up can duplicate. It's a maintenance Diva and not a "sexy" looking razor for lack of a better term compared to the Stainless Steel & Titanium creations of today or even some of the vintage masterpieces from yesteryear. But, it's unique and when you want a close and comfy shave, it's masterful at producing one. Ugly, overweight & some say a relic compared with some of  today's choices. Yet, it does it for me. Are there better options out there? Absolutely as this is not a practical choice for the everyday shaver and the rarity of obtaining one including it's astronomical price to acquire make it more of a collector's proposition. 

Yes, I still like shaving with this beastie.....
