I do think the efficiency is decent on 4 and 5 but barely any blade feel.

Muramasa efficiency was pretty disappointing for me even on setting 5...I remember doing my usual routine and thinking
that the result was pretty close to a WR2 1.15 on my face after just the one WTG pass.

Wondering how/why blade feel suddenly became a bad thing...it's not meant to be a macho thing...blade feel is meant
to provide feed back that the razor is doing its job.

I've been using the Tatara Muramasa long enough to have formed an opinion and to have tested my opinion.

For me it's an excellent razor. The adjustment range is not large, but it's useful throughout, and it suits my needs. I might say it's tailored to my needs.

I'm a daily shaver. I have what I consider to be a rather average beard, not especially dense or thick but also not sparse, with tough old man whiskers, and a difficult beard map. My skin is on the sensitive, easily irritated, and dry side, but not to the far extreme of that side.

For someone with a thick, dense beard this might not be the right tool. For someone who shaves once a week, the same. For me, the Muramasa hits a sweet spot.

I've used all the settings. All are useful, including setting #1. I prefer little to no blade feel and have sorta kinda settled on using setting #2.5 to start my shave. After doing a good bit of work there, I'm moving to setting #5 for a S-N final neck pass, and for my last soul patch work, and then doing a N-S mostly WTG upper lip pass on #5. I'm experimenting with setting #1 for a final pass over of some areas, too.

Setting #5 is still smooth, but not smooth enough for me to enjoy it ATG on my upper lip.

To me, all the settings are useful. I love being able to dial down the blade exposure.

The only blade I've used has been the Wizamet SI. I've used various soaps, and a consistent preshave routine with the PAA Cube and Tube.

I value a close, long lasting shave but not at the expense of a Damn Comfortable Shave.

Once I got used to it and figured it out I've had no trouble with the too tiny numbers. In that respect the adjustment workarounds are easy enough. I like the length of the handle and find it plenty grippy, but I'd prefer it to be 13 or 14 mm. Still, the handle is okay and useable.

Happy shaves,

Jim
