Gents,

This is an incredibly good soap!  I have nothing negative to say, nor did I identify anything that could be improved upon.

During the application of the lather via painting strokes, and during the shave, I kept thinking, “Wow!”

Is this a new formulation of Strike Gold?

Ruds Shaves gave the original formulation a score of 75 with his 2017 review. He described it as a middle of the road soap base. Thus, there was plenty of room for improvement. However, there has been plenty of time for Frank to improve the performance of his soap base. If your review is accurate, the improvements have been significant.

Ray,

I have no clue what formula base it is (purchased last week), or the history that Ruds has with this company.

My review is only accurate for me...you may not like the soap.  However, I think it’s great...it lacked nothing, and was integral to an excellent shave last night.

AFAIK, this is a newer base that Ruds hasn’t yet tested. The current base is the “Commander In Chief” formula but I think Frank is working on another even better base.

The old base was vegan and the current is a tallow base that’s very good.

I have one of Frank’s most recent release and I’ve mentioned it on my IG account what an incredible soap it is. The lather is slick, dense and explodes especially when bloomed. Considering the price point it’s an amazing value.

Excellent. I never considered purchasing the older vegan formula, but the revised tallow formula may well be worth consideration. It will be interesting to see what Ruds thinks of the new formula. I tend to like the same things in a soap that Ruds likes.

Ruds can be hit or miss with me...he described AE Asian Pear scent as a masterpiece, but I found it to smell like synthetic hairspray.  He also rated Santa Maria Novella cream as middle of the road...but I have always loved everything about it (fragrance, lather, performance, etc).  I take his opinions with a grain of salt.

Different strokes for different folks as they say, but the thread isn’t about Ruds anyhow.

FWIW, Frank doesn't make anything he sells. His soaps are made by Jennifer Marting of the deceased Mason Boutique brand.

She must be a genius!

If I tried to make shave soap...I am 1.)  sure that I would screw it up, and 2.)  certain I would drive myself crazy trying to create a unique fragrance that was absolutely perfect!

Frank just did an Instagram live and mentioned that Jennifer Marting does indeed make his soap and that the newest tallow and goats milk formula will be reviewed by Ruds soon.

The latest tallow and goats milk base is what you’re using in your original post.
