I'm sure enjoying my Hesperide cream, David! I was part of Gus's Stone Cottage pass-around, and though I loved all the scents, Hesperide was special. So now I've got a beautiful huge tub of the stuff!

I didn't see if you explained above how the v2 creams are different from the v1 versions. Can you tell us?

Thanks for your great work, David.

Thanks Scott for your kind words and your support! As with any product of this nature, it is important to gather feed-back from the customers which in this case took a while. After sorting through some of the responses and focusing in on the more serious, well-thought out and well-presented replies I was better able to see what needed to be focused upon in this formulation. Many quite liked the lathering ability and general function of the product and that hasn't changed but more focus was put upon the shaving types and techniques of the users and changes were made to make the product work better for the bowl latherers yet remain good for the container latherers. These changes aided a formulation that was based upon the popular creams that were created in the 1920's and 30's so that the consistency would be more stable which is something that is sometimes lacking in the old style creams. Skin feel before and after shaving is an important characteristic as well so that was addressed. It only took 2 new ingredients to bring everything together and minor adjustments to the rest to bring everything together! It also uses a new preservative that I think will be better and it has the bonus of working well with the scents of the product! It took four long months of experimentation and research to get it where it is today but I must point out how difficult it is to analyze a product that was developed and created in the early part of the 1900's. Many old books were purchased and read to gain insight and it took many hours and the assistance of good friends in the cosmetic chemistry field to head me in the right direction! For this I am grateful! I have confidence that this formulation will work well for all of the different kinds of shavers out there and I look forward to them trying it! I believe you have the old version of the Hesperide but both that and the Lavender were scents that seemed to work well in that formula but you'll have check your label to verify which one you have! Again, I appreciate your input and look forward to the input of everyone here on DFS! I welcome you all to give your input as Scott has and I look forward to it!

Kind Regards,
David

P.S. - Thanks to Gus for doing the pass-around and for his support!

While visiting relatives in nearby Allentown, PA, I took a field trip to Stone Cottage yesterday. I had a long, delightful chat with David, and picked up a tub of Musk cream, which I used this morning. I find v2 of this cream even better than v1, which is a bit surprising to me, given how much I enjoy v1. The v2 is softer than my v1 tub of Hesperide, and seems to contain more oils/moisturizing agents. Amazing stuff, and the scent is sophisticated, very present but not overwhelming. And the prices are more than reasonable. I'm very pleased to have SC in my den, and I'm happy I got to spend some time with David in his beautiful store. Keep up the great work, David!

This was great to hear. There’s nothing quite like spending some face-to-face time with people who enjoy the same hobby. And this is coming from an introvert. Smile

Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”
