With the right angle I got a very good shave from both of them!

Riding the cap is a shallow angle. It refers to the angle of the handle in relation to the ground not your face. It is kind of odd if you think about it, but that has always been my understanding of the definition.

This is what I thought as well.

Regardless, after two days shaving, I am ready to pass this razor on to the next on the list.

First, the good. The razors are gorgeous. The handles didn't really present a problem for me, like I thought they would. The leather cases are rugged and functional.

I tried shaving with both the standard and the HA plate. The nearest comparison I can give is when I tried shaving with a straight. Both that level of focus and slowness. And my results weren't as smooth as my normal shaves.

Am I confident I could get BBS with this razor? Fairly. If I tried, and tried, and tried. But I don't think that for me it is worth the steep learning curve and the concomitant pain. And this is coming from a guy who loves aggressive/efficient razors. This razor is aggressive like no other I have ever tried, iKon Tech included. The marginal benefit / marginal cost to trying one more shave just isn't doable for me.

This razor would, I predict, be great for those who crave an off-the-charts aggressive razor for their morning shave. But, sadly, that isn't me. A sincere thanks to Rod and Mandy for letting me try these razors - I hope you get them into regular production soon!

My first problem is that I cannot really tell the difference between the two heads. Both felt really aggressive. Visually there was nothing to distinguish between them, at least at first glace. I took both in with me to shave, and tried the first. It was aggressive. I tried the second. It was also aggressive.

Unable to tell the difference between them, I chose one and did a standard 3 pass shave. Definitely some weepers. Less close than my standard shaves. I will keep at it.

Is anyone able to offer advice on how to tell them apart?

I don't know if the gaps for the two heads have been given somewhere, but the best way to distinguish is to load a blade in both and use feeler gauges to measure. Short of that, dissemble the heads and lay the plates flat on the table, end to end. Then, look at the safety bar thickness. The larger gap may have a slightly thinner guard. Just a guess.

I did run both heads with a very steep angle with no issues. Maybe give that a try. I found both heads to be smooth but there is no getting away from a lot of blade feel. I actually liked both heads and I'm not generally one for excessive blade feel. I've learned to appreciate it at times...not ALL the time but I do like some of them.

Guys, on the bottom of the base plate there is a serial number. If it starts with ST it's the standard head. If it starts with HA it's the hyper aggressive head. Short of that, put the base plates next to each other. The hyper aggressive head has a visibly taller plateau.

I've been following the pass around, and would love to get on at the end of the list. I know last week Rod said more people can be added. I am in Maryland.

Update: I went to the post office today and they did not have the proper envelope. I ordered from USPS. I will include the extras when I ship it out to expedite future participants.

10+ days to ship you packaging? Why not just go to the PO again or put it in a box you have laying around....

I ordered more padded flat envelopes about a month ago and they're still "processing". I assume there is a shortage. I know the rules were very strict with this passaround, but maybe they can be changed until some more envelopes are gathered. A medium flat rate box with the proper protection should protect the razors sufficiently. Pictures could be taken during and after packaging to verify they're protected. Obviously its up to the admins and Rod, but something to look into.
