Softening hardened creams

I have some old cream samples that have dried & hardened. Is there a recommended way to soften them?

In tube or tub. If it's in a tube submerg in really hot water for a while. in a tub put some hot water on top let it soak in for a few minutes and then gently Stir the Water Into the cream all the way down till you get a creamy consistency

I found some vintage Palmolive in a tube. When I went to try it, the cream had turned grainy and dry inside and I decided it wasnt worth the hassle to bring it back to life. Sometimes the moisture evaporates and there isnt a way to restore its previous glory. Hard soaps are way easier but dont think that was your question.

This also may not be exactly what you're asking about, but I bought some vintage Williams shaving cream in a metal tube that turned out to be completely hardened. Using needlenose pliers, I tore and pried open the tube, spooned out the hardened cream, and packed it into a wooden bowl, gradually adding slight amounts of water to turn it into a semi-soft soap that I can now lather with a brush.

I wonder if applying some type of heat might help? Due to Charleston weather, I've had many a soap get too soft from delivery in the humid weather here. Just a thought.

If it doesn't work cut the wide end of the tube squeeze out whatever you can ...mix with a little water and use

As an owner of the entire shaving cream range from TOBS, TF&H, GFT and DR Harris-they all will harden before I get to use them.

This is the method I use too, I just load in the tub and add water gradually to the brush, the results are wonderful lather. Lots easier than trying to make it go back to cream form by adding water and hoping you get the ratio right. They work just as well as soft soaps as they did when they were soft creams.
