I have tried a few cleansers and exfoliating products but can't really notice much difference, I ended up putting a towel in a microwave for 50 seconds then I loaded my brush and put the towel on for about a minute then started face lathering, I definitely found this has helped the most, my hairs definitely come of easier but I did end up still getting irritation there were a stubborn few hairs then I couldn't get of and ended up over shaving, I normally do 3 passes plus a touch up and I do always chase a BBS as that's what I want I hate leaving hair behind.

Well it sounds like you're getting the beard softened and that's not the issue then. That only leaves the tools you're using and technique. I was addressing softening the beard which is what you had posted about.

No never got round to trying a gem, I love the design and quality of my current razors and spent alot of money on them so really determined to get great shaves with them . The hair that was left, the only way to get it was going against the grain under the nose and around the chin, the problem I had was the hair wasn't soft enough it was so tough it wouldn't just easily come of, for example when I go against the grain on my checks the hair just falls of with no irritation.

if they don't work for you, it doesn't matter how much they cost. you can find a gem razor for $10-15 to try. can't hurt, I suppose!
