Excellent video! This is so far one of the two frontrunners for an upcoming SE purchase. It will be between the ATT and the OneBlade, though the blade monopolizing of the OneBlade is bothersome to me.

OneBlade is an awesome razor. I understand your frustration with the blade but I also understand that OneBlade was never meant to be a razor for the masses. We were not the target audience if that makes any sense Smile

I preordered the ATT because with Stan you can't go wrong. He will always produce a high quality instrument. It is not going to bench my Cobras, but it will make a fine addition to the rotation.

Quite right about the target audience issue. I have no problem with exclusivity nor with high prices (if the product is worthwhile). My only issue here is what appears to be monopolizing attempts to control the blade sales. It's not particularly egregious in terms of the price difference, but as a consumer I like competition Big Grin. If the blades were still available in bulk from Connaught for instance, I wouldn't be annoyed in the slightest. I think they are just pushing the subscription service.

The only reason why I haven't already preordered the ATT is that I want to get just the head. The handle is nice, but after having held it, I would prefer to use the SE on my Colossus.

I'm conflicted. I have yet to purchase an SE razor, and I'm perfectly happy with my ATT S1 and S2. After watching this video, I added the preorder to my cart, but I just cannot pull the trigger on it yet. Do I really want to go down this route? Having to try four or five different SE razor blades as well? Hmmmmm.....part of me knows how this hobby goes sometimes and something that was once available is very much unavailable, but ATT usually brings it when it comes to supply eventually so I'm holding out I think.

If it were another vendor I would be worried about availability. Stan is very good and I'm sure they will be readily available

For most business the repeat business is what keeps a company going. The one time sale is never the target. This is also why there is such an emphasis on customer service in the US since consumer spending is the bulk of gdp and companies want people to come back as much as possible.

That being said, is connaught not shipping to the USA? I ordered a bulk pack from them before. Also there are some USA based vendors who sell the blades as well....

Earning repeat customers is one thing, but maintaining exclusive rights to sell a single blade to the exclusion of competition is something else. The business model of maintaining exclusive rights over a refill design reminds me of the proprietary cartridge razor systems.

From what I understand, Connaught no longer ships those blades to the US, supposedly because OneBlade is now the official distributor. My original plan was to buy the OneBlade then buy blades from Connaught in bulk. At least there would be diversity among the suppliers and one could shop around for the best value. Like I said earlier, the difference is merely a few cents, but I prefer to have competition.

I've heard great things about the OneBlade and have no doubts about its shaving capabilities.

Apologies to TSE for the slightly off topic comments - I was simply reasoning out loud my though process on deciding between the OneBlade and the ATT SE.
