Let me say this, I want to apologize for my behavior in another thread here.  I don't want to rehash anything, or use any reasons/excuses for why I got angry at another forum and some of its moderators and members.  It was a mistake on my part.  Additionally, I probably helped escalate tension in the thread. To DFS, I am sorry.  grim my apologies to you and everyone else here.  It was uncalled for.  Honestly, I do not really want to answer any of your questions as to why I got hostile, because it will only serve to continue the drama.

Quote:What is the point of discussing rules elsewhere? Why do you care? This is here. That is there. That was then.  This is now.  Get over it.

You're right.  You're exactly right.

Quote:IMO, leave your bags as the door. I get it. We are all mad at someplace else.   Angry But it’s the end of the year, a new  year is about to start. For better or worse, everything will start fresh in January.   Smile

For a New Years resolution, how about leaving your baggage at the door?  Exclamation

This is good advice.

The reality is the banner ads come from a generalized ad revenue source. I think in many cases the website have no idea what gets advertised. They go through a third party. And then there are the local ads, a different subject. So when you see a Ford ad and then an Amazon ads, the web owner might not be responsible for knowing who is advertising.

Now in a more general sense, when a forum RESTRICTS you from mentioning the competition or from linking to another website, that's, IMO, pure greed and restricts the very power of the internet itself. Being a closed society inevitably leads to doom. Just ask AOL about that. Remember those that don't learn from history ... You can't keep the genie in the bottle. You can't restrict full access to the rest of the world. There is a massive amount of resources out there and to try to live in a tiny space of the virtual world is not only stifling but just silly. Its not real life.

No need to apologize to me. I don't remember or know what you discussed. We're good. This was just a general discussion, triggered by someone who recently went into a LONG discussion on something else. I saw no point in it and it went way over my head. When people go from forum to forum continuing discussions, some of us have no clue as to what they are talking about.

I imagine if this was 1941 we would all be dropping by Woolworths five and dime with a roll of Kodak film for development and a new puck of Williams and Wilkinson Swords .
I can see no few people shocked when the radio announces Pearl Harbor is being bombed clueless as to the possible aggressors. Maybe the owner of the five and dime sees
this as opportunity to finally put the Nakamura family drygoods store out of business.
A lot of nasty behaviour happens online. Women and their daughters wind up in 55 gallon oil drums in the desert answering a Craigslist ad. People discover a hobby that illicits looks of bemusement from loved ones and coworkers when we show excitement finding a 'dirty old razor somebody else used at a garage sale.' Then one day out of nowhere another individual hiding behind an assembly of digital data originating from halfway around the world causes harm. You slowly extricate your soul from injury as bemusing as that dirty old razor. Or, you find your business harmed and reputation slandered. You could just walk away. But people want to know what happened and after so many emails a one time editorial is needed to purge your psyche. No few people will look up, ignorant and inconvenienced and find fault in seeking clarification if not redress. Sometimes, those people get hit themselves by an airplane flashing big red meatballs; having no clue as to why.

There is a difference between not caring what happened elsewhere or why, and not being informed as to what happens elsewhere and why.

In my experience, nobody is really ignorant to the rest of the online shaving world, most of us just don't care. "We"don't care because we choose to disassociate ourselves from such nonsense.

We dislike it occurring here not because it is false but because this place is different. The admins and owners are not secretive. The rules are not convoluted. The treatment is fair and equal.

Bringing the drama from a place that thrives on it to a place that avoids it is unnecessary, and here, at least, it is frowned upon and should be discouraged.

Inevitably those threads draw participants from both sides for no other reason than to continue that which was discontinued elsewhere.

We are not clueless here. Quite the contrary, the drama is frowned upon because the results are all too well known as is the cause...

The ads should be for things that the members are interested in learning about or buying so, in reality they're providing a service. If the forum starts running unrelated advertising based merely on money for viewership then you might start losing members. If DFS for instance began running banners for prescription ED drugs or dating sites it would likely spur a response - some members may complain some may just go elsewhere.

The vendors who are active on DFS and who buy banners must think its worthwhile otherwise they wouldn't do it.

forums that are designed well and are always looking to push the envelope (like DFS) can be expensive to maintain and run. the review system that I had custom built will probably end up costing over $300 when all is said and done.

in 2016, I've spent over $1,100 so far to run, maintain and make this forum a better place.

There is drama amongst soaps?

Funny, I've never seen Grandma Haslinger post anything negative about anyone on FB, Twitter, Instagram or the Forums.

Exactly.

Dragging drama from one forum to another is merely a form of "poor me". Poor me .... Sad Have pity on my case. .... I seek your attention. I'm the victim of injustice.

Poor me is a means to control other's behaviours ... play on sympathy.

Artisans yes! Haslinger no!
Waiting on Paolo at TVB to restock supplies.
The key is, as Bruce knows, the Haslinger family doesn't frequent any shaving forums.

Keeps the blood pressure down.

I was a lurker here for a long time. I decided to join after a long period of observation. In the end I was attracted to 3 things

1. The threads were more interesting to me than those at other forums
2. The participation of vendors
3. The absence of drama prevalent in other forums

The culture here is different--in a good way. Let's not change.

Just my opinion.
