Razor- blade combo is a more important factor than which soap you use to shave with.

For example, use a super efficient razor- blade combo like the Asylum Rx/ Feather Pro or the LASSC BBS-1/ Feather with a top performing soap and the next time use it with a Merkur closed comb and see which one is the most important factor in achieving a close shave.

In my honest opinion and after 4 years of trying many different products, I strongly believe that the razor you use is the most important factor. I get close shaves even with an inexpensive cream like Palmolive or Proraso when I use an efficient razor like the two I mentioned. Of course, there are many other razors that provide close shaves.

So, invest in hardware and not in software. It's good to have a few great performing soaps with great scents even if they're expensive, they give more luxurious shaves, but don't be sure that these give you the closest shaves or your soap is the most important factor of your shaving routine.
