I'm looking to purchase a new Simpson Brush and have narrowed my choices down to the Simpson Harvard H4 or the Simpson Duke 3.  I was looking for some advice and the pros and cons of each before I make a decision.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

What are you looking for in your new brush?

Without knowing your desires, I'll jump in and recommend a Duke 3.

I have had both (still have the Duke) and found it to be a good fit for my hand and an excellent face lathering brush. The handle is sufficient to occasionally bowl lather as well

I only face lather and enjoy a brush with backbone.

I'd recommend the D3 then. While the Duke doesn't have Chubby density, it is above the density of the Harvard. Plus that handle shape really excels at face lathering. Bowl lathering isn't bad either. Just a very versatile brush!

I would highly recommend a Chubby 1 in Super or Best if price is a concern. It’s pretty much everything a Duke 3 is but you can really tell the difference in terms of density. I am dying to see a post that says “____ is more dense than a Chubby!” Until that day I will likely only use one brush for face lathering.

Of the two choices the Duke 3, a brush I previously owned, is the one i’d recommend. The Harvard is great but less versatile of a brush. Definitely more unique than the Duke though, if that’s of any concern to you.
