Brothers,

Would appreciate any opinions on the quality of the knots and their attributes. Looking for a brush for face lathering with good backbone, soft tips and not a lather hog.
Thanks in advance

My favorite of Simpsons is the two-band SiLVERTiP , though I own and enjoy a couple of two-band Manchurian brushes. However, if you are not limiting yourself to Simpsons, you might want to check out either Paladins or M&F/Brad Sears brushes.

Thanks ANG69 for the alternative suggestions. I do have a Paladin 28 PK 47 and 2 M&F Brad / Lee collaboration in Finest (Emillion 24 and Alibaba 26) which I do like very much. The Paladin had really come into its own since it found its home in my den in 2017. But the enablers are speaking to my inner sbad and I have a friend that swears by his Simpson. What’s a shaver to do?

I would suggest a Chubby 2 Manchurian if you are contemplating buying a Simpsons' brush.
However, you may want to consider a Shavemac Unique 2-Band, or even better, a Maseto Shaving 2-Band Finest 30mm brush, as these might suit your needs and they are much less expensive than the Simpsons' Manchurian, especially, the Maseto.
Good luck.

I now own 2 Maseto brushes 26mm,30mm. I liked the 26mm Memphis better as the ergonomics are better and the longer handle was very convenient to use.

I somehow do not like the hair quality of the Maseto anymore after comparing it side by side with Chubby Manchurian, Shavemac or a Thater, they seem over-treated( to me) and are thin compared to the others mentioned.

But then again for the price they come, I don't have any complaints.

I completely agree with you regarding the over-treatment of the hair, but for the price, they are fantastic brushes. Shy

What other brushes do you have that you like the attributes of? Simpson Manchurian varies wildly from batch to batch. Best seems to be more consistent, but doesn't have the most backbone. Also consider which model you are choosing, some are more dense by design, specifically the Chubby series. What size do you prefer? Do you prefer taller loft or shorter loft? Fan or bulb? High density or not so much? These are all options to consider, and knowing your preferences will help everyone to give you the best input.
