Shaving is the ultimate metaphor for life - you spend the time and attention to get a perfect (hopefully) shave and apply some lovely post-shave products and you step out to face the day feeling great.  The moment you're done shaving, however, you begin to de-shave (new term, why not Big Grin). Your rate of de-shaving depends on your natural rate of growth and how closely you shaved but in a few hours those whiskers are noticeably returning and by the following morning you have to repeat the process.  So it is with most things in life - you invest time and attention to get things where you want them but it only lasts so long.  The lawn needs cutting again, your shiny new car isn't so shiny anymore and there are some stone chips and damned if I didn't just go to the gym last week and I'm fat and weak again already!  When I was younger, de-training would happen in a matter of days or even weeks but now my body begins to feel the effects of de-training between sets.  Entropy is an inexorable force that never rests and we rush around like the stage performer who keeps multiple plates spinning on sticks rushing from one to the other to ensure they keep spinning fast enough to remain stable.  It can be exhausting but I guess we have no real choice do we so we may as well enjoy the ride  Happy2

In my first (almost) fifty years, I understood that consumerism consumes more people than things.
The more things we posses, the more these things own us.
After trying everything, in life as in wetshaving, today I prefer a more minimalist approach.
Few things, perfect for my taste.
