I think you must live in a warmer climate than me. I'm up in Canada and I look forward to those 2-3 weeks of summer we get when I can break out the summer weight flannel shirts. I don't think I'll be cold water shaving as its likely between 45-50F here on a summer morning.

For fun I stuck the thermometer into the cold water stream coming out of the tap last week and it read 41F. Thats cold enough that I can only do a cold water rinse for about 30 -45 seconds before my hands hurt too much and I have to run them under the hot water.

Beautiful scuttle Freddy.

I have not bowl lathered in years and never used a scuttle but all these pieces and suggestions have me thinking I need to get one. The ice would be great in the Austin summer.

Ditto, Kevin. Might be fun to whip up some lather in a bowl and compare it with the same soap when face lathered (as if I don't have enough razors, soaps, blades, AS, etc. to compare now).

I'm impressed with the scope of shaving products available from Ladysea.net. The 'garden variety' Captain's Choice lathering bowls are adequate, I'm sure, but the Lady has quite a line-up.

These are the scuttles I use daily. They include a Georgetown Pottery G5, G20, and G12, a Moss Scuttle, and a World Market gravy boat and Becker mini-scuttle that I alternate for soaking my brush briefly before my shave. I've had a number of other scuttles, but these are the ones upon which I settled for reasons of efficiency, counter footprint, craftsmanship, and overall beauty.

Yep, in summer 30 C days aren't uncommon. There was also one night this summer which was around 27 C following a 40 C day.

That one looks like the George Town I've had my eye on for some time.

I own a GP, but have never used the hot water compartment. I mostly shave with cold water, so I'll have to wait. Cold water shaving has been the best thing I have found in the magical world of wet shaving, and my face thanks me for it.

Nevertheless, my scuttle is purdy, lol.....
