My Dad got admitted this morning to the hospital, more TIAs and influenza. Doing better this afternoon, but yesterday, when in the ER, he was not in his right mind. Thoughts and prayers are appreciated, as I am a thousand miles away.

So sorry Eric, positive thoughts ! Shave thru it......

Yikes, I'm so sorry Eric. I'll keep your father in my prayers. Our whole house is recovering from the Flu... It is not fun at all. I wish him a speedy recovery.

Merry Christmas to you all!

Thanks for the prayers and well wishes regarding my Dad. The CT scan did not show any new TIAs. He was very dehydrated and is infected with influenza A. He will be inpatient for 2-3 days

Dad was discharged to home yesterday. Originally, the plan was to go a rehab facility, but none had any room. Which was for the best, maybe, as Dad is adamant he will not go to a nursing home. It actually became a contention between him and my sister, who is the one trying to coordinate everything (as she did 3 years ago when my Mom went to a home before dying). I have been speaking with Dad and he is sounding clear, but there are moments of confusion. My sister has been seeing many more and that is why she is so convinced that him being home will only result in further trips to the ER.

My sister and my brother-in-law have a special needs daughter who is 15 now, but somewhere developmentally around 2-3 years old, with the body of an 8–9 year-old. They have quite a lot on their plate already, with my BIL's parents in a nursing home nearby.

Many thanks for the support here, it means a lot. Shaving, that once-chore and now hobby, does help me stop and focus. Yesterday I enjoyed a lovely shave with a GEM Damaskeene that is over 100 years old, and today was a Super Speed that could have been what I started shaving with if Gillette hadn't sent those Atra razors to all of us males! But the task of building lather, and careful shaving helps more than I imagine as we deal with Life.

Take care all, and I wish you all a Happy and Healthy New Year!

I’ve been sitting here thinking about how to respond to your post. Life is quite a ride. I can’t imagine going through it without faith. My mom has been gone for 15 years. My dad is 93 and seems to be slowly fading away before my eyes. We get regular “scares” but so far he’s managed to get up off the canvas although I know that one day he’ll stay down for the count. He’s still in his house and we’re doing our best to help him continue living there as long as he can. Right to the end as far as dad’s concerned. I hope so. Eric, I’ll mention you, your dad and your sister in my prayers tonight. While I have a pretty good idea what you’re going through with your dad, I can only imagine the challenges your sister and brother in law deal with every day. I wish you all the peace and strength you need.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

Prayers to you and yours
