However, some numbers seem to have importance attached to them, and 500 is such a number. Tomorrow will be my 500th consecutive shave! What happens if I can't shave? Apocalypse, I am sure! Just kidding. But it does seem to be important to me. I am undecided to just shave as normal, or use the first soap I ever used, MWS Sensitive Skin. Stay tuned, I'll most likely mention it tomorrow!

But I also plan to use a shavette tomorrow for the WTG pass. I have never used one before, but I have dabbled with a SR that Ken Fluffy provided me. I think I want to try the "training wheel" guarded blades for the first go.

Today's set up was the first use of my second boar brush for DecemBoar 2022, the Supernova with a mixed knot.

I tuned in to see if everything is on track, having penciled in December 8 when you mentioned its significance.  Glad to see all systems are go.  As for the soap, remember Yogi Berra's strategy:  "When you come to a fork in the road, take it."  As for the shavette, kudos on your courage for trying it, and kudos on your wisdom for starting WTG only.  FWIW you might also consider starting with only the cheeks (still WTG only at first).

But whichever way you go, good luck Eric!  Have a great shave.

The 500th consecutive shave!

I switched to the MWS as it was my first soap ever. My first 4 DE shaves back in 2015 were with creams, then MWS landed in the mailbox. So to commemorate 500 shaves in a row, I used this soap. Also, I used a new to me Feather shavette (many thanks to Obie) with a Kai Protouch blade loaded. This was for the first pass and it went very well. To help with slickness, I also used the Ethos First Lather.

With 500 in a row, I think I'll take a break now and grow a beard!

Edit to add some further thoughts:
I reached a milestone for me today, no skipped days since July 26, 2021. I realized sometime in late Spring that I was heading for a year of daily shaves, and then when I hit that milestone, I looked at where 500 fell. To what do I owe this dubious honor? Stubbornness? Number chasing? No, I believe it is the anticipation and enjoyment of my daily shave, plain and simple. As we've all experienced, who'd have thought that a daily chore would become something to look forward to?!

Even if you do grow a beard, you still have to (get to) shave your neck.  Tongue

Scentsless Shaver

The Feather SS has been doing the first pass since I first used it on the 8th of this month. Today was the 6th shave, and I decided to remove the guarded blade and put in a Kai Capt. Titan Mild. using my dominant hand on that side was nice, and I did feel that the blade was felt more. And then I managed a good scratch on my neck! Over confident I was and was still adjusting the angle when I touched blade to skin. A thin red line appeared and made me slow down. After the shave, I put the guarded blade back into the shavette! Training wheels still needed!

I also broke from the boar brush and used a SynBad knot this morning, the Oscuro handle from Trotter Handcrafts. It made for a wonderful break from the boars. I have been enjoying the boars this month, but had an overwhelming urge to use a SynBad knot today. I have noted that I am not as gung-ho about DecemBoar as I was last year. But I am excited to shave everyday!

I think you made a smart choice...

I find that, if I expect a rough shave It's best to balance it out with the softest brush I have. I don't know of a brush more luxurious feeling than the Synbad. Adds a bit of comfort and balance.

You are certainly braver than I, Eric.
