A "camping" style shave this morning. As they continue to work on the boiler installation, we knew we'd have no hot water until late today. So I decamped to the first floor 3/4 bath, boiled a pint of water, and poured it into a thermos for mixing. If you have eagle eyes, you see the steam rising out of the Thermos!

A simple WTG/ATG 2-pass shave with pickups and I am clean shaven and continue my consecutive shaves tally. By my reckoning (okay, by a date calculator doing the hard work!), this is my 477th shave. Thursday, December 8 of this year will be #500!

That's cool on the heating the water Eric and congrats on the continued shaving streak ! I do hope the boiler fiasco is all buttoned up and behind you after today !

That's cool on the hearing the water Eric and congrats on the continued shaving streak ! I do hope the boiler fiasco is all buttoned up and behind you after today !

Thanks Dave. So do we. I have to work tomorrow, and the lead tech informed me that there is a chance that they won't finish today. But one day at time! We have a nice space heater in the bedroom, and my wife and the kitties are up there with her, all comfy and warm! I am on the couch, trying to keep the gas fireplace going (of course, it is acting up!) and doing continuing education for work while perusing the forums and such in between courses! (Yes, courses, plural. Eric procrastinated after February, and now has many CEs to do instead of the goal of 1-2 per month! Bad pharmacist, bad pharmacist!)

We have heat again! And hot water! and a wi-fi enable boiler!? What?! I remember scoffing at our washer and dryer being on wi-fi, but it is nice to get a notification that the laundry is done! What did we ever do before smart devices permanently attached themselves to our hands and wrists?!

And ready just in time for this weather alert

Posting Freak
That’s good news Eric. I’m not sure what your temperature lows get to in winter but there are plenty of places (like here) where losing heat in the winter is a serious threat to your life. And when those water lines freeze it can get very messy.  I’m glad you and the missus are warm and toasty. Cat too.

The Handle Restoration Project
This project was prompted by a series of events that started about a year ago. I would say the initial prompt would be Paul mrdoug providing me a with an Ever-Ready handle that he'd cleaned out and set with a Maggard Razors premium boar knot. I love that brush!

Paul had a bit of a discussion going in his Journal last December as he was tackling this restore, and it got me interested. Many folks participated, giving pointers that I knew would be beyond my skills. However, Paul D persevered and I thought had a great first attempt. This brush will be one of three participating in DecemBoar 2022, it's that good!

In August, AlanH81 put up a replica brush by Heritage Collection Shaving (the gent that brought us the Gibbs replica last month), an homage to the Star/Kambro brush of yesteryear. I was happy to acquire this brush from Alan and it is seeing lots of use, although the handle is just made the cut as comfortable for me. This is most likely due to my only experiencing the "standard" handle seen everywhere.

Alan worked his magic on the handle, adding more coats of something clear, if I recall correctly! And with a cashmere knot, I just love this brush!
And then Freddiep318ti posted a photo of one of his restorations. It was stunning to my eye.

And when Dave in KY commented on it, I felt that...

...to get some brushes restored! And Dave, I am NOT blaming you! I stoked the fever and started down the path with eyes wide open.

To Be Continued
