Personna CC (3)
Black Tie #13 (of note, both the blade and the soap are courtesy of our fabulous mrdoug! Thanks Paul!)
apshaveco SynBad (Pillowy cloudlike softness) in a Knothead Brushworks handle (another great Tim! Thanks for making this beauty of a handle!)

I was wary of shaving too soon after a very close late morning shave yesterday, so to be safe, and because my rosacea seems to be flaring, I dialed it back to a known comfort level. A great shave and I am so enjoying my rediscovery of the Slim. As much as TobyC may have opened a can of contentious worms on another thread, I have to fully agree, the Slim, even in its Steampunk apparel, is one razor full of soul! I love the gadgetry feel and the smooth shaving it gives!

You have redeemed yourself proudly.

Boar brushes, brass razors, and hard pucks ARE traditional wet shaving. Everything else is modern day fluff for the girly men.

It's like the blues, the best stuff comes from dead guys.

I soaked the knot while showering and it was mahvelous!

A couple of things to note. The dominicr Sir Henry's Black Tie #13 lathered thick and plentifully, and I could have stopped loading in under 30 seconds, but I am working on keeping my street cred up as an Overloader! The shot above is AFTER 3+ passes. I could have shaved again!!
And as mentioned yesterday, for keeping just the brush warm, I am really enjoying the CaD314 PAA Moonscape brush warmer!

I am so glad to have fallen, been pushed, been enabled, or whatever into this "hobby!" No more carts and soulless gels!

A couple of weeks ago (I think, but I don't recall correctly as I have slept since then!), Paul mrdoug sent a surprise package to Sylvester. The most beloved item turned out to be these:

Sylvester (I think, but not sure what he is thinking. Having just turned 1 y/o, he still has a lot of kitten in him!) would like to say Thank You, Mr Doug!

At the shaving sink, I have been enjoying the Nacar Oscuro brush, the Black Tie #13 (gifted to me, NOT Sylvester. I think. lol!). And my Steampunk Slim. But today I broke out the GEM Micromatic Clog Pruf Peerless. Very nice shave, and I am very happy with the results!

Lot's of medical stuff in the next 5 days, including a surgery consult in Boston for my wife. After the cancer scare, we could address the gall stones issue. It is recommended that she have it removed. We could do that locally even in Maine, but Beth Israel Deaconess has a crack surgeon who was actually part of the team for the cancer issue, so we are opting to stay there, where (hopefully) everyone knows her history and we don't have to start over with All That Has Gone On Before. Minor appointment today, then Tyler (Sylvester's older "brother") has a vet appointment in Portland for his incessant scratching. He is so scarred up from a rough time on the streets that we think he has some dermatology issues, and we waited 5 months for this referral. So Tyler and I will take a guys' road trip on Wednesday to see a specialist. What all that means is that I rearranged my work schedule to get some days off. But this will be now staycation but lots of driving and shuttling to and fro, ending up with a long work haul to "pay for" the days off. Oh joy. But I'll worry about work next week! Today is easy appointment.

And our anniversary today! For 15 years she has had to deal with me! And I'm still here! I am going to the bakery later to get the cake. I got the card already. And as her birthday was last week, there was a nice big present that she is looking forward to using.

Off to get my locks trimmed and shortened. Gonna keep my natural gray, although purple and red highlights sounds fun (ya, right!)
