Let's say a guy puts into a metal mixing bowl the following:

1] 40 grams of a Mystic Water soap;
2] 40 grams of 3P shaving soap (not the pre/post stuff)(3P is a "french" style formula; that means stearate and coco nuciferate and anything else it picks up in the factory).
3] 20 grams of unrefined, pure shea butter.

If the metal bowl is then placed over boiling water to approximate a double boiler, what is the order by which these three things liquefy?

Ted

Shea, MW, 3P

It's a riddle so I'm sure I'm wrong. Lol.

Not many takers, eh?  The faster melters are, in order

1] Mystic Water
2] Shea Butter
3] 3P.

Under the conditions used, the 3P hardly was effected, which surprised me because it comes as a bag of very, very soft croap. Interesting, to me at least, that the only composition containing tallow was the fastest melter.
This raises some curiosities in me, and so, since everyone is interested   Tongue    I will continue with my life's work.

So why did you mix these three things over heat? Because you were curious as to the order of melting or were you making a creation of your own? A FrankenSoap!? Did you use unscented products? What was the end result like? Have you lathered it and shaved with it? Come on man, you've got my attention and, in the words of the punk in Dirty Harry, "I gots ta know!"

Oh, good question.  I'm so sorry to omit that info.  I was preparing a preshave stick that comprised 40% Mystic Water, 40% 3P and 20% pure unrefined shea butter.

I use it twice during a shower - and move on to  shave.  When I feel there is enough trials to reach a conclusion I will post about whether it is more effective, or not, when compared to my usual shave soap-containing sticks.

I would have gotten it wrong also. I would have expected the Shea butter to melt first also.

That was my expectation as well. Don't feel bad.
