Hi again all,

I already introduced myself here: http://damnfineshave.com/thread-ok-i-m-here

...but I thought I should create a thread here too.  To summarize, we've been selling our handmade soap since 2011.  I started making bath soaps because my husband's skin doesn't like commercially made soaps.  My husband asked me to make a shaving soap so he could start exploring traditional wet shaving.  We've been selling our "croap" for about a year now.  We're pleased that so many of you like it, and we're very thankful for your support.

Our shaving soap formula is tallow-based, and contains lanolin, kokum butter, shea butter, cocoa butter, and more.

Our summer seasonal shaving soaps include:
  • Lemon Freeze - A bright lemon scent with a healthy 3% dose of menthol
  • Coconut Lime - The perfect blend of luscious coconut and refreshing lime
For more on our shaving soap lineup, check out www.shannonssoaps.com/shave.

While you're at it, have a look at our shampoo bars, too.  Wet shavers seem to like them a lot!

We actually posted this on our blog at the end of July, but didn't do any forum posts on it.  We interviewed famous traditional wet shaving author Michael Ham, AKA Leisureguy. He talks about his life, his book, and offers a good deal of shaving wisdom as well:

Check it out!

Have used your soaps 3 days this week and have to say I have gotten an outstanding shave each day. They lather up very easily and create a very slick and cushioning lather. I'm very happy with the scent. Very pleasant and not overpowering, but I would not call it a weak scent either.

It looks like my samples will last a good long time. I am looking forward to using the various different scents that I ordered.

You definitely have a top-notch soap here. And will remain in my rotation for quite a time.

Hey all! New scents are out! http://www.shannonssoaps.com/handmade-shaving-soap.html

Brian and I have been arguing about if the Haymarket Vetiver or Lit is better, so if you want an opinion, it depends who pops on. I (Shannon) prefer the Vetiver, but I do love the Lit too.

The Pumpkin Spice is fall/winter -- with vanilla fragrance, and essential oils of cinnamon leaf, clove bud, ginger, and nutmeg -- I used skin-safe percentages, but if you have sensitive skin, you might want to use with caution.

The Vetiver has (essential oil!) notes of vetiver, citrus, oakmoss, and clary sage.

The Lit is a (mostly) essential oil blend of bergamot and petitgrain, florals like jasmine, in a smoky and woody base.

Big news! Some of our shaving soaps are now being carried at the Q Brothers Men's Shop at Merz Apothecary:

Merz Apothecary & Q Brothers
4716 N. Lincoln Ave.
Chicago, IL 60625
(773) 989-0900

They're not in the online store yet, but you can walk in to the physical store, have a sniff, and walk out after purchasing some Shannon's Soaps shaving soap, plus some other grooming goodies or fragrances.
