I havent had a tooth cavity in over 10 yrs. I have been using Mentadent for over 15 yrs. They are now discontinuing it. I am sad. Of all things that were constant in my life, I never thought I would have to replace my toothpaste brand. Sad

I have been a Colgate toothpaste user my whole life and, let's face it, Colgate and Crest all but own the toothpaste market in the United States.  Yes, there are other brands available but it must be quite difficult to come up against the selling might of Colgate-Polmolive (Colgate) or Proctor & Gamble (Crest).

Well hindsight is 20/20 but if I would have known they were going down, I would have went out and made a run on their product. I wish that when mfrs decide to pull a product, they would let their consumers know. I think they do it quietly like this to avoid consumer backlash.

I feel your pain - I'm pretty sure if you want to get advance notice of any product about to be cancelled you only have to ask me what I'm currently using! OK, maybe not but sometimes it sure feels that way. I'm down to my last two containers of Oral B Ultra Floss and if I'd known they were going to be discontinued I'd have bought all I could have but nope. No notice, just gone. I'm always curious why seemingly popular products are discontinued. Is it pure economics? Is there a problem with the product? Is it personal?? I hope your teeth don't fall into decay now!

Well since moving from a populated middle class area to a less populated lower middle class area, it was harder to find. Last box or so I ordered through Amazon or ebay store. Next thing I know a box is going for 50+ dollars a box I knew something was up. After searching out the mfr online, there it was. A plain notice on their web page. They suggested another Arm and Hammer (the parent company) toothpaste, but I have yet to find it too. It sucks but it drives me crazy that products scream for customers then they drop out of the market without explanation to those that are loyal to them. Makes me want to give my money to another company that doesnt waffle on their product continuity.

Floss every day and drink fluoridated (tap) water. For minty breath, choose a fluoride mouthwash to your liking and use it twice a day. The rest is silence.

Now if I could only follow my own advice.... flossing is such a pain. Sad

Well said Viseguy , except the tin foil hat wearers in my community voted fluoride out of our tap water a number of years ago and guess what? Yup, incidence of dental caries in kids is skyrocketing. I discovered that flossing twice a day is even better! Less time getting scaled by the dental hygienist. I also switched to toothpaste with double the fluoride in it. I want to eat steak for the rest of my life. With my own teeth Big Grin
