Hello all,

Trying to be a bit more environmentally friendly and am thinking of moving to refillable soap pucks after I finish all my soaps.

What are some STRONG scented and good performing soaps that has refillable soap pucks.

Only ones of know of are
  • Tabac
  • Taylor of Old Bond Street
  • D.R. Harris
  • The Art of Shaving
  • Czech & Speake
  • Truefitt & Hill
  • Plisson
  • Fine Accoutrements

Price doesn't really matter to me.

The following have refill pucks available:

1. Mystic Water
2. Mike's Natural
3. Crowne & Crane

Each one offers a wide variety of scents and, IMO, they have good strength. Maybe not Tabac strength, but a lot of them are in the 7-8 out of 10 range.

Haslinger sells their pucks loose. So does Mitchell's Wool Fat.

The only problem with Haslinger, at least to me, is the scent-strength. I don't have the best sense of smell, but Haslinger's seems very light to me.

I have to agree with you. If you know about MWF, I found that by grating both a half puck of MWF and a full puck of Haslinger Schafmilch down and combining them pressed into an empty soap tub, the combination provides all of the best aspects of each soap and none of the negative ones. I didn't like the scent of either of them alone. But together it takes on a whole new scent that I very much like. But even more importantly, the performance is better than any other soap or cream in my entire den, which is 54 in total. Try that out. I know others on other forums have done it and raved about it. I happened on this by accident as we were talking about the positives and negatives of each. I wondered out loud what would happen if they were combined and someone said "Why don't you do it and let us know what you think." So I did and I was blown away. When I reported back, others did it too. Some in different ratios to reflect the hardness of their water. The group of us then threw some names around and came up with "The Fat 'As".

Thanks, very interesting and a really adequate name.

What's approximately the ratio for really hard water and how is it determined, trial and error?

Regarding the topic: Le Père Lucien offers refills as well.
