Hi all,

I was recently gifted a RazoRock Mamba. Really a nice razor, but my shaves with it so far have been just okay. The blades I have on hand that I’ve tried in it are derby, astra sp, persona blues, and a feather (everything I have). They’ve all provided a mostly similar experience - decently close with a touch of irritation. My facial hair is middle of the road in density and coarseness. Skin isn’t especially sensitive, but it’s not made of stone either.

Wondered if anyone else who’s had success with this razor could comment on a blade pairing that worked for them?

Polsilver SI. Perfect balance of sharpness and softness in my opinion. Feather perfectly show themselves in this razor, but after the second shave. Try the blade to cut the wine stopper, will become a little softer. Still like Personna Comfort Coated.

Thanks for the reply. Sounds like I’ve got some decent blades for it, maybe just a matter of still getting the angle right.

I also just noticed that there was a very similar post to mine a few days ago that I missed in my search. Rookie move.

What exactly is the problem that you are experiencing with the Mamba?
It could be that the razor might be a bit too mild for you and you are compensating by applying too much pressure which is leading to the irritation.

For what it's worth, I have had excellent shaves with my Mamba using Polisilver SI, Wilkinson Light Brigades, and Personna 74 Tungstens.

celestino Hard to say exactly - I just expected the shaves to be...better. I was aware of its reputation as a mild razor, but I’m getting more irritation with it than I have with other mild razors (e.g tech and de89), with a result that is no closer. I’ve been pretty cognizant of the amount of pressure I’m applying.

Reading a couple of other posts, it sounds like the angle can be a bit finicky. Maybe stick with some sharper blades. I’ll have to play around a bit during my next shave with it.

churchilllafemme Appreciate the suggestions! Sounds like Polsilver is pretty good bet here.

Are you riding the cap or the safety bar?

Blagoja Rajevski You know, I think I’ve been riding more toward the cap, but I’m not sure. That’s where I’d want to be, right? I’ll use it again tonight and pay closer attention.

If you ride the cap 3 passes will give you DFS which is something I only do because I shave ever night and don't care anymore for BBS no matter what razor I use. If you want BBS it will take touch up after the 3 passes, but that's the case with all razors I have no matter how aggressive and efficient they are...

Nothing wrong with the Mamba as it is but would be nice seeing a more aggressive plate released down the road
