I finished off my Wholly Kaw King of Oud recently and enjoyed the Oud note quite a bit. I'm kicking myself for not getting in on the final Dance Of Agrume's batch. Oh well. Just FYI, i have tried two other Oud soaps and they did not work for me - Grooming Dept Amber and Oud, and Stirling Agarwood. I was hoping the board could recommend a few others to try. Thank you in advance.

PAA has some nice scents with Oud/Agarwood. Also, Art of Shaving has a wonderful Oud scented shaving cream.

SV Tundra Arctic quote: "Fragrance: to recall the atmosphere of the Arctic Tundra, we chose the scent of Agar Wood (oud) but harmonized to give the sensation of open and fresh spaces, with a markedly woody perception."

I have this soap it smells fine. But never having seen, smelled, tasted Oud I have no idea if the soap is even close.

Good call on Tundra. SV Tundra is one of my favorite soaps and scents. I posted the scent profile below. It's definitely worth trying in my opinion but it is a lighter scent. I have an Oud Parfum and candle by Diptque and they smell amazing. Once I smelled the candle I was hooked and went back the next week and bought the parfum. Tom Ford and Creed have done an amazing job with Oud as well.

Oud is like the Cognac of fragrances for some. I posted an article below by Fortune that talks about it.

I, too, think SV's Tundra is one of the best oud-scented soaps. But if you want to look around, here are a couple more soaps that put oud's complex aroma front and center.

  1. Cold River Soap Works' Olfactory Hue. Larry's description goes like this: "Exotic woods of Oudh and Sandalwood mix it up with the earthy scents of Cedar, Fir and the resinous sweet warmth of Frankincense." I like it a lot since it reminds me of Japanese incense, but some shavers say it smells like rubber cement. That's sort of the nature of oudh, though, isn't it.

  2. Le Père Lucien's Oud-Santal. This is a very dry oud-sandalwood combo. The performance is quite good provided you load your brush generously. Unlike most of Cyril's soaps, this one is made with tallow and Shea butter.

  3. RazoRock Tuscan Oud. This is as much tobacco as oud, but it's a rich, pleasant tobacco. The fragrance is apparently based on Tom Ford's Tuscan Leather. I find the scent intoxicating, but the lather's a little thin on cushion.

to the OP:

Tundra Artica-

Wonderful face feel along with a soft scent on the skin. Not a agar wood oud heavy scent compared to the PAA Sangre De Drago. Tundra Artica is what I use for the skin and the choice in using it also allows for a pleasant mix of aromas.

Thank you for the great suggestions. SV Tundra Artica seems to have a lot of fans. I tried SV's initial release Aromatic Fern in 2015 and unfortunately was not a fan of it's performance or scent. I know they have made incremental improvements over the years so maybe time to give it another shot.

I endorse the suggestion of LPL Oud-Santal. The scent is amazing, and the performance is wonderful. It’s different from King of Oud, but just as pleasant, to my nose.

Have some LPL Oud-Santal incoming. Wondering how it compares to SV Tundra.
