Question re Wet Shaving Products sandalwood scent

Hi all,

I recently picked up a tin of WSP sandalwood. I already had the tobacco, which is OK but a bit sweet for my tastes. The sandalwood would be more up my line, but the scent is barely detectable.

Catch is that I bought it from WSP's Amazon shop (had a gift card). So my question is, is the scent in my tin weak because it's been sitting in an Amazon warehouse for too long, or is it just a very weak scent?

I've found all my wsp scents to be weak. I have Christmas, black amber, mahonagmy, and barbershop. Stirling in comparison is very strong.

WSP makes great soaps, but their Sandalwood scent is a bit weak IMO. Tobacco & Mahogany are much stronger scents.

It is a tad weak indeed, but I love the scent. I bought the aftershave - now that one is strong as hell.

The health food store around me has essential oils they have a tiny bottle I think 5 milliliters of Sandalwood and they want $30 for it really tempted to pick it up just to see what real Sandalwood smells like

Man, I hear you, I realize that sandalwood oil is really expensive but I'm not sure I can even remember what sandalwood smells like because every product that I have that says sandalwood on it smells soooo mildly of whatever it is that I can't even be sure I'm smelling anything. The B&M Latha that you're looking to trade for smells of currents and amber to me but I can't detect any sandalwood in it.

I agree that B&M Latha Sandalwood smells nothing like Sandalwood whatsoever. I do think the berry scent is unique, but calling this a Sandalwood scent just boggles my mind.

oopps... is it OK to mention this here since it is not a thread specifically made for B&M Latha line? I like the perforomance of B&M, but caught some slack for mentioning Beaudelaire in a thread about B&M soaps a few days ago. So unless there is a specific thread concerning a specific scent of theirs I will have nothing more to say about B&M soaps around here.


Sorry for me rant, but that kind of pissed me off. Anyways, WSP does make great products, and will have to check out the Sandalwood A/S. Can anybody compair the Rustic formula to the Tallow version performance wise?

I think in order to make a soap with a sandalwood scent strong they have to use a lot of it and real Sandalwood is very expensive that's probably why it's so mild my suggestion get the aftershave and pour a little into your soap and it should pick it up quite a bit... I really like the idea of matching aftershave and soap I think it's the way to travel

I've never tried a tobacco scent I do have mudder fudder from razorock is that a tobacco scent? I also have the stallion that was made for Anthony Esposito... is that a tobacco scent or cologne scent?

No, those are both cologne-type scents. They're both dupes of Italian colognes. I think the Stallion is based off of one of the Acqua di Parma scents and I forget what the Mudder Focker was supposed to be. The Santa Maria del Fiore is a tobacco scent from RazoRock.
