I got the same e-mail, but like GlazedBoker, I like a clean head so I opted not to have it engraved.

Same here. I have been reading the comments/questions thread. It is pretty interesting. On the design compared to the Rockwell Model T:

"Actually our factories had received several inquiries of making the 4-bar adjustable mechanism razor. We had spent quite some time to study it, and the realize the manufacture difficulties. I think that's why Gillette had changed the design 4 times between 1958 and 1961, and eventually stopped producing it. I checked the Rockwell's project page, and their project is already delayed for over a year due to the manufacture issues."

"@Forrest jason @patato miso Thanks for your comments. The two razors are different in many ways. One of the major different is adjustable mechanisms. Rockwell's T model's mechanism is the same as Gillette Fatboy produced in 50s which uses only 4 bars to adjust the blades; Parthenon's entire blade tray moves when adjusting, the mechanism is similar with Merkur. The reason we did not use the 4-bar mechanism is that we found the bars were easily interfered with the butterfly open tops, and it affected the shaving experience and had relatively higher defect rate. We chose our technical & design solutions which fits our design goal (better shaving) and manufacture capability. Don't get me wrong. I think Rockwell's T model could be a good razor if they had solved the problems which I mentioned before."

I actually look forward to getting this razor now. Like I said $49 for 50 feathers and a razor isn't a big risk. I basically paid $35 for a razor that might be great, or might be junk. I actually like my Q-Shave Futur clone that I got from them for $10 and have no issues with it.

I'm sure the Parthenon engineers managed to solve the inherent problems with a TTO adjustable mechanism, thus the low cost of production and price. ( I hope there are no delays on this one). I also have high hopes for the Rockwell T as delays only show that Gareth and team, like previous times, want to deliver a good product to the backers and this takes time. Maybe not enough research had been conducted beforehand, thus the delay. As I have backed both products ( not having backed out of the T ) I'll be in a position to compare the two upon release. What I still don't understand though, is how the Parthenon manages to adjust both, exposure and gap.

Pretty interesting. They have given an option for a black handled razor. Nice contrast to the chromed head and adjustment dial.....

Production Update:

The first tooling sample will be ready on 25th March, and we will check the tolerance, adjustable function test, and assembly test. Usually the tooling needs two or three modifications before mass production.

I caved. Seems like a decent investment while I rot away waiting for my Model T.

I guess 50 feather cost around $15 or so (I think). $35 for the razor didn't seem expensive to me for an adjustable razor that is all brass except for one part. Is Rockwell shipping the Model T yet?

I wonder what it will retail for.

The brass doors is tempting. Low profile head. Black handle looks good too. Tempting. If they deliver in June, they're going to be banging!

I think we've been hood-winked, bamboozled and trickerus maximus ultimatis.....

They have it posted on their website as a pre-order with a 10-15 day wait time. Dirty, rotten scoundrels!

Understood. But why then say razors will ship within 10-15 days direct from their site? Then tell backers in KS Campaign we're shooting for June delivery? I think it was a hype job to create a frenzy for capital raising to pay off prototyping, tooling and such. Just a theory, BUT??? Confused2
