For me smooth and harsh describe how the razor feels on my skin. Efficiency is how weel it cuts my beard whiskers. For me most razors sacrifice smoothness at some level to yield a highly efficient shave. Razors I put in that category are the Rx, Muehle R41, and the Charcoal Goods level 3. The .95 timeless is smoother but not quite as efficient, the Paradigm Ti2 is much smoother and the efficiency is nearly equal to the .95 I agree the final polish of a Wolfman is amazing both in SS and Ti and the Timeless and Paradigm are definitely a step down from that perspective, however the tolerances and build quality are excellent If it is worth the price, only each person can answer that, for me, it is. If I just wanted a quick shave with excellent efficiency I could use a 5 blade cart, been there, but I prefer a relaxing 2-3 pass shave

@struttura.originaria: “We'll see. 17-4 won't be available again for sure.”

@Paradigm Shaveware: “Next stainless release, whether in 316 or 17-4, will have a beefier handle. Also more forgiving threads. I'll make some extra handles for people that want to purchase them separately.”

I don't decide for anyone here. Andy never talked about a real 17-4 return. Many times he said 'No'. I also wrote: 'Or Andy should be more clear'. Don't use scissors on my thoughts, please.
That statement, I repeat, means nothing. I/We should need effective time. We saw what happened with the Gem release (and something else). Keep your feet on the ground.

I tried too. I think Andy has been very clear. He originally had no intention of bringing it back because of the difficulty in machining and cost of production. But Andy has listened to what is customers want and is looking into bringing it back. Is that a guarantee, of course not things may always change. But to make the claim that it is gone forever is incorrect and misleading.

Of course he does listen. That's a great point for all of us. But... I don't see users asking for a specific 17-4 SS release. Perhaps a generic SS? It sounds a little bit different IMHO. If I could see evidences... Thanks.

(P.s. I don't read 'forever' in any statements.)

I’m sorry I was just reading your statement where you claimed “the 17-4 wont be available again for sure” which is contrary to what Andy is actually currently saying. And yes, many users are asking specifically for the return of the 17-4 SS razor.

(Sorry) I don't know, but I don't get where Andy said '17-4 will return' or something similar, although a vague statement reported before by our mate vtmax (thanks !). Never seen a specific 17-4 SS asking too... Perhaps a generic SS production. With a not sure answer at all. Or I'm going out of my mind (it's possible, no doubt - not kidding Big Grin).

Can anyone compare the Ti2 to an Edwin Jagger DE89?

I’m not sure how accurate my thoughts will be as the de89 was my first de razor and haven’t had it in my collection for at least two years but I would say that that the ti 2 more efficient then de89 but feels smoother. Part of that could be how my technique has improved over the years though.
