From your feedback I'd say that they are and I'm not really looking for another aggressive razor right now.
I heard that the razor is a small notch below R41 aggressiveness, that still makes it super aggressive. In my case that's a good thing, I just dislike the look of the handle and see if they come up with a handle design that will match and compliment the head better than the current handle

The nickel plated one I got is not aggressive at all. I agree about the handle, I stuck an ikon oss handle on it and I like that.

I have the Nickel DOC and love it. It is mild when fully tightened, but if you back the head off 1/2 to 1 turn it becomes much more aggressive.

Has anybody used the SS version yet? I'm curious to hear what that one shaves like.

Hey all,

Finally getting around to sharing my thoughts on this razor. I got tired of waiting around for the aluminum version to restock so I bought the stainless steel version. After shaving with it for a week straight, I can say I'm keeping mine. The shave was extremely close and you do need to pay close attention to the shave. The razor is very loud. I consider this a positive trait in a razor since you get audible hints as to how the shave is going.

Yes it shaves as close as the R41 but so did the open comb Blackbird. I have all three so I would suggest to you that the SS Evolution is more closely related to feel on the face and cutting with the open comb Blackbird. Just my opinion. I have no clue who really manufactures this razor, but fit and finish is remarkably close to ATT (there are some minor cosmetic differences and of course the double open comb design, but over all that's where I place my bet).

I bought mine, paid full price and have no buyer's remorse. It cuts like the best of them.

Interesting. I find the BlackBird SB to be quite mild, there's blade feel but it's strange that it gives me a sort of mild shave. I'm thinking of getting the OC, but if if the OC is too aggressive, I'm having second thoughts. The SB's efficiency is already up there among the greats.

I have both version of the Blackbird and I certainly agree the SB version is pretty forgiving or less likely to bite than the open comb. I use the R41 extensively so I used the same shallow angle for the R41, Blackbird OC and SS Evolution so I have never been bitten. I think if I moved away from the shallow angle, my shave experience would be very different.

Is the regular doc more aggressive efficient than the aluminum ATT M1?
