...not sure if I missed them back in...January, maybe? At that time I only saw 5 Crown King soaps available as samples. I picked up 3 & had wildly varying reactions to the scents: loved Rustlers Ridge, was lukewarm towards Holliday, threw out Sacre Blue.

Anyway, last week I noticed a bunch of samples from the main PAA line & ordered 5, once again with wildly varying initial reactions: Cavendish should be classified as a controlled substance, Sandalwood smelled great, Strange Island and Dragons' Blood were OK, and Oud Spice went right in the bin.

In terms of performance, I like the PAA formula a lot, definitely more than CK. I over-loaded the Cavendish a bit (softer than the soaps I'm used to) & it felt great on the face & I got an excellent 2-pass shave. Still feels pretty darn smooth this morning. The scent was subtle but did seem to linger a bit, I kept getting whiffs...

I agree, Cavendish is a great scent. Probably my favorite tobacco scented soap I've come across.

I'm a big fan of PAA soaps and aftershaves. I have one Crown King soap too, which performs every bit as good as the PAA soaps. Both soap formulas require a lot of water to achieve optimal performance, perhaps as much as B&M White Label. The only problem I have is some of the soaps could stand to be stronger scented imo. I love Enigma Machine but wish it were stronger. Crown King Tack Room on the other hand is about perfect on scent strength, as is PAA Tombstone. I have also sampled more than a dozen aftershave splashes and have 4 full size bottles. There were a few scents I didn't care for but none so bad I wouldn't wear them.

I held off on buying any PAA soaps just because he didn't offer samples and it's a bit of a pain to sell or PIF items you don't like. I made the trip down to Razor Emporium a couple of weeks ago and was able to smell a few that he stocks. CaD is good if you like the American Blend / Rive Gauche scent. Speakeasy was nice, but the scent was a little light. Didn't care for Honeysuckle. Cavendish was meh. The one that surprised me based on the description was Malbolge. Didn't think I'd like it. Loved it and bought a tub.

I absolutely love the PAA Sangre De Drago scent. By far my favorite from PAA, although they do make many awesome scents.
