Does anybody know when they'll be restocked?

This. I usually grab new stuff from soapmakers in a base I like...I just grabbed Lyssa from B&M (Excelsior) but skipped Angelique/Gothique as I'm not much for the Reserve base.

I'm also not really swayed by YT reviews but as said, when a top 5 artisan gets a 100 score on a brand new base, that'll grab my attention.
Grabbed a couple of the new base out of the first drop; the reviews were not wrong. It's great.

Unicorn tears and bigfoot sweat are next I guess.  Will from B&M said it best a couple of months ago:  "We have reached a point with soap bases where any "Improvement" will be so minimal you won't see any difference."

I tend to  agree with this honestly, but I'm sure I'll be flamed for this post.  Wait until there is a, "Limited milksteak." release.  You will see people paying, well, DUMBARSE amounts of $$$ for it.  I've never understood it myself, but to each their own I guess.

I am in the camp that didn't try 99% of the new stuff that came this year. But I got to try this 'milksteak' thing as some friends made me a tester. I must say, I think this soap will live up to all the hypes.
For example, I can't really see anyone having any sort of issues lathering this soap - I have seen people complaining about how difficult it is to lather glissant/reserve/excelsior/bison/icarus/stirling - while I don't agree with their assessments, I understand. This base however, I really really think is ultimate idiot-proof.
The residual slickness on this soap - is unparalleled in my opinion. While testing, I went back to some other soaps that provide excellent residual slickness - Mystic Water, GD, Icarus, Reserve, CBubs etc. I am fairly positive that this soap has the best residual slickness in the market. I finished a whole pass with a SR without re-lathering.
It is also very much non drying (yeah, the post shave aspect). I tried my best to compare this property with other great soaps, I think this one holds up even against the best bases out there. It also has noticeably less funk than DG Icarus base.

If you don't buy it, you won't be missing much as I believe you already have great soaps. But the hype about this base being a great one, is totally deserved, in my opinion.

I guess I am Old School in that a cardinal rule, if not an absolute shaving canon, is that one never ever shaves any part that was not lathered. I do appreciate your experiment however.

your rule is a good one. I wish I could follow, but I have picked up this habit of buffing a bit here and there, especially with a straight. Your method is definitely better and I recommend that to every newbie.

Well you are another person I have had many conversations with also so trust me when I say I believe you.  I still have 99 years of soap to use up though. Tongue

I used the Milksteak Dirtyver again today and am ready to offer my op/ed. Suffice to say that the scent is superb and latherability is quite easy (as is damn near every soap with a YaQi synthetic). I am going to state however that at least for me I see no real gain over Icarus or any other Top Tier soap for that matter as regards the actual shave. As I have stated repeatedly before, for me PSF is meaningless as I use a host of cleansers/acids pre & post shave which negate any objective opinion in that regard. I used the same blade for both shaves and in the interim used a soap that I paid a whopping $1.00 for that incredibly gave the same level of quality shave.  Undecided   I will state again ad nauseam that far too many reviewers and their followers are drinking the PSF Kool-Aid  and as a result are losing sight of the raison d'etre of shaving soap.

Feedback?

I mean, you already said you don't shave without lather, so the residual slickness part I found to be elite (and better than Icarus) won't matter to you. Also, PSF is meaningless to you. That leaves slickness and ease of lathering. You found it to have good latherability.

So that leaves slickness only - I mean Icarus and other top tier soaps are top tier for a reason. They all are extremely slick.
I also can get excellent shave with a Palmolive stick for example if I don't buff. But my face feels a  lot dry (i have dry skin, and don't live in a humid climate). And I don't enjoy the scent.
If residual slickness and PSF don't matter to you, I truly believe there is no reason for you to chase any soap base other than scents.

@"iamsms" , your comments regarding the post-shave of this soap has me very curious and I will have to try it to compare it to Mystic Water's.
Thanks. Smile
