I was lucky and found an almost new, virtually unused Gillette Black Handle Flare Tip Super Speed. Today was my third shave with it. All three were excellent. The razor is very light weight as you would expect. To me, it is a very mild razor. It is a nice addition to the stable.

Would you say it is more mild that a regular FT SS? I ask because I have one like yours but havent used it yet. I usually pair my FT SS with a Feather blade and the two seem to be a match made in shave heaven.

I would say it is the same so far, but much lighter.

Congrats, Bob!

I have a couple these as well. They were the first birth year/quarter vintage that I found. "O1" Enjoy!

Yes that's a great find. Those usually have some fading on their handles, like mine which is my birth year. Yours look very minty. Congrats Smile

I have bought 2 of these in the last couple years. Both N4s. My birth quarter. I gave one to a friend who also shares the same birth quarter. Both went to Captain Murphy for cleaning, polish and recoating the handle. They are good shavers. More aggressive than say a 40s SS, but less aggressive than a Red Tip.
