Oh man!
He was 10K in the hole with the Paradigm guy, and now the additional
burden of returns.

The last time a prototype built up hype (which was later let down by the final product) was with the
Toggle- inspired project.

I'm no fan of he owner of Paradigm, but I think cutting him out of the loop of his own creation
had some consequences here.

Response from that seller:

"WOW, so sorry to hear Phil ..  here i sold mine today on the forum cause my wife threw a fit about how much i paid, guess i will refund the buyer and then wait for my refund. After reading your post i actually just took the razor back out of the box because i never looked at it real close or put a blade in it ... so, i put a blade in it to see exactly what you was talking about and i quickly seen no blade exposure at all.  I really hate to hear this cause i know how much work, time and money was probably involved ... surely hope the machine shop makes things right for you"

I’m sorry to see the machine shop dropped the ball on this one and really glad to see how Phil is handling things. That’s quite the QA/QC fumble.

Also agreed that it would be sweet to see everyone send their razors back to Phil and him be able to have the shop fix them up.

I hesitated a bit on this release since I own an original 17-4 and haven’t used it in years. Reading about a future release in Ti definitely made me sit this one out but I hope this can be resolved to where Phil is still willing and able to release future projects.

I’ll absolutely be purchasing the next Rocnel Sailor Adjustable through Phil as I did my previous one.

If it's just a base plate issue, I'm sure most people would be okay with a replacement base plate only. Mistakes happen; no need to put the poor guy in a bigger hole if he can (hopefully) easily make the fix.

For one, NEVER do I wish nor indulge in pleasure at another’s misfortune. It is terrible form to cheer for an opposing player’s error in sport and particularly grievous to take pleasure from misfortune in another’s life generally. While surely lacking in an untold number of positive attributes, particularly guard against this.

However, pointing out a deficit and calling for accountability quite another matter. An appropriate response if done with solemnity regarding the consequences but the knowledge it necessary.

Finally, I like Phil...a lot. Phil has always treated me more than fairly and, of many people encountered in the field, has always gone out of the way to give me the benefit of the doubt. There is zero malice felt towards Phil, BullGoose nor TSN: if anything there is affection.  Of all the people selling, Phil is amongst my favourites.

Finally, I understand Phil’s frustration with this project and even feel some sympathy regarding Andrew’s situation leading to this state of affairs.

It is patently unfair and inflammatory to suggest my comments held ill will towards Phil or even Andrew. In my best of all possible worlds, there would have been a workable solution (and in no way suggesting fault in that matter either).

Gentlemen, I have far too much respect for you to think you were inferring that characterization upon me but felt the need to clarify my perspective.

Thank you for indulging

Dan, the word "Schadenfreude" was definitely NOT directed at you.

LuvWetShavin, your points certainly have merit.  Frankly, this is between the buyer and the seller, not to mention happening on another forum, and should be of no concern here at DFS.  Attacking based on nothing more than assumptions is never good.

Gentlemen, let's bring this to a close as the picture is much clearer now.

It's closed, i received one very nice pm from FloridaCreekIndian and accepted his apology. I am done commenting after this. I guess there are a few lessons to be learned and i think those involved will now be a bit less eager to draw a conclusion before knowing all the facts.

Have a great day everyone!
