Ok so I have finally shaved with my new soap and let me tell you, although I had an amazing shave but I was a tad bit disappointed! I know this sounds contradicting but it's true. Slickness and glide were both present, however, density of lather was not as I had expected. The lather kept desapating for some reason. I had to re-lather once or twice to make sure that the ratio of soap to water remained favorable. It seemed as if it was too bubbly at first even though I made sure to limit the amount of water. I cannot say that I got the dense, cushiony, and shiny lather that I'm used to having but I can definitely say one thing about Mystic Water soap, it has plenty of glide.
Did anyone have a similar experience with MW soaps?

I found out Michelle makes you work for that heavenly lather, lol.

I just started using her products and no problems on my end. I have to whip it a bit longer than some others, but now that I got the soap and water ratio dialed in, producing good lather is a breez.

Are we talking Michelle's older, regular formula, here, or one of the new scents with the sodium citrate chelating agent?

Have you tried using a synthetic brush?

I have 2 older sample-sized soaps from Mystic Water, and both perform very well for me. I find myself loading a little heavier than usual, and building lather for a little longer than usual, but I get excellent results from the process...

Good results from boar, badger and synthetic, so no trouble there for me, at least...

With that being said, I do work towards a slightly thinner, slicker lather in general. I prefer slickness to thickness...

From the sounds of things, I would infer this is your first attempt with Mystic Water.

I would highly recommend loading more than you would normally, spend more time building the lather while adding water slowly.
I would also suggest performing more paint-brush strokes if you face lather, or using a synthetic if you really need to.

Here are some good videos to illustrate the process via palm and bowl lathering.
Good luck and I would be more than willing to assist you if you would like.

Well I have just bought this soap quite recently, so I'm assuming that this is not an older formula. I do tend to reach for my synthetic more than my silvertip simply because it feels much better on my face. I have found that, on the second pass, the tips of the silvertip bristles can sting/poke a little causing mild irritation, while the synthetic brush remains soft and cozy regardless of number of passes without compromising the ability to create dense and slick lather. Maybe I'm just not used to this soap and I just have to give myself some time before I can master the proper technique of Mystic Water lather Big Grin

Just allow a bit more time and keep practicing.
Depending on the scent you purchased, it still may be the older formula, which I think is just fine. Angel

I had the same issues and couldn't get it to be relatively consistent until I bought a water softener. Fortunately this will change soon with an upcoming modification to the formula.
