Does anyone know of a good straight musk shaving soap? I'm not really interested in one in which musk is just one of the base notes of a complex fragrance; I would like to find one that is pretty much only musk, or an extremely simple combination like amber and musk.
Thanks.

Thanks. The Faena Electron (amber & musk) sounds like something I'd like to try, but I can't find a U.S. seller that has it, and shipping from overseas is too expensive.

Hi rhtoras do you know if any North American vendor carries the Faena soaps?
Thanks,

Gentlemen, check here:

http://phoenixartisanaccoutrements.com/search?q=faena

http://www.smallflower.com/search/faena

PAA has them on sale, so it's a good opportunity to try them, if you haven't already. They don't have the new scents and I am almost sure they have the soaps with the previous formulation. They don't have the one you're talking about here. I think the only source for these new soaps is directly from Faena.

Being a Greek, you'd think I'd recommend them. In my opinion, they are good soaps like most of the artisanal soaps are, but nothing special. I'm trying to be objective here and give you an honest opinion of what you should expect from these, especially at the expensive price that these two vendors sell them. Wow! I know shipping cost isn't cheap, but this is twice the price we pay for them in Greece.

I've tried the Faena Amber & Musk. Actually, I was one of the few first testers in their tallow edition. They also offer it in their vegan line. The scent is nice, but extremely sweet for my tastes, more of an Amber than a Musk scent. Also, their soaps are lightly scented, which means the scents are very mild. They're far from being close to scent strength to most of the American artisanal soaps. The performance of the vegan soap is mediocre. I ended up selling them. I couldn't use them with aggressive razors. Their lanolin edition is a little better than their vegan and their tallow soaps are obviously better than the previous two.

Why am I saying all these. The guys in Faena are very nice, but they can do it better. I am sure for that.

Their shipping is $11.78, which brings the total to over $30.

Thanks for your impressions. I'm not absolutely certain that I want to buy the Faena, especially at the prevailing prices.

Perhaps a custom musk soap would be the answer. I have contacted Dapper Dragon, Ginger's Garden, Stirling, and Shannon's Soaps to inquire about the possibility of a custom soap order. Does anyone know of one of the artisan soap makers who definitely would take a custom order?

I know Dapper Dragon does customs and either Ginger's Garden or Van Yulay are sure to have a straight up musk scent in their massive catalogs.
