Concurred re Galway. But, as you suggest, appropriate for CPE Bach He is quite the presence in person as well. There is a place for “star” personalities, larger than life. Since the golden age of Hollywood, it missing with few exceptions in film, stage and music but too few and dying off....
Johann Sebastian Bach: Orchestral Suite No.4 in D, BWV 1069
Jeanne Lamon/Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra
Antonín Dvorák: Slavonic Dance No.14 in B-flat, Op.72/6
Zdenek Kosler/Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra
Domenico Scarlatti: Sonata in C, K.132
Luke Welch, piano
Yes, Bach's music is devout and spiritually uplifting, but to me a lot of it is very boring to play or to hear. The radio announcer said that Scarlatti once had a 'Battle of the Keyboards' against Handel in Leipzig; that would have been something special to see and hear.
