Just had another terrific shave with the Birchbark handle Muhle Rocca.  The aesthetics and ergonomics of this razor really set it apart from the typical modern stainless steel offerings.  With there being so much interest in boutique razors (Wolfies, Paradigms etc.) it's nice that there is an available razor from a major provider this good.  I can easily compare the quality of shave that I get from the Rocca to the finest razors, even the Paradigm 17-4 and the Timeless Ti.  All of these razors provide an excellent, irritation-free close shave.  Also the feel of the Birchbark handle is unique and somehow reassuring in its warmth and texture.

I know there were some concerns over the quality of the Rocca, specifically the way the pins are held in place. My copy looks very very nice, and I hope that Muhle will be there should I have any problems in the future (wishful thinking?).

Highly recommended.

Thanks for sharing your experience so far, Number Six. I’m glad to hear that these razors are more readily available now than they were for several months after they were announced. Hopefully any quality issues have also been taken care of.

As I haven’t been keeping track, are there any vendors in the U.S. who carry these, or is it best to order from Europe?

Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

I got mine from Muhle, but West Coast Shaving also carries them. BTW I had yet another excellent shave from the R96 last night...

Anyone have an idea of when they will release the new “jet” black version of this?

Thanks, this is good to know.

I’m interested also in seeing if the DLC Rocca comes back in stock. Haven’t seen it available anywhere since the initial release.

By the way, a while ago I looked into this, and the Mühle Jet is an entirely different razor, if I understood correctly. It’s basically a different color version of the standard R89 (Zamak), while the DLC Rocca is of course stainless steel, like the rest of the Rocca series. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.
