I bought a 2011, after I had fallen in with the wrong crowd. I was still fairly early in my DE journey and while I didn't care for the face feel of the razor, I loved the results. I just don't like the feel of zamak in hand, or on face. A SS R41 with 2011 head geometry would be a lot of fun.

Where does it say LE? I must have totally missed it?

[size=medium]Yeah don't know where folks got that the razor was a limited release, if you go to the replies on facebook Mühle reply to a guy asking if the razor was limited, this was the answer:

"Der neue R 41 GS ist nicht limitiert. Er wird dauerhaft in unserem Sortiment bleiben." which translates to: The new R 41 GS is not limited. It will remain in our range permanently.

Hope that helps.

Received the Muhle GS R41 yesterday and did first shave this morning. Compared to the Stirling AH plate this razor shaves like a pussy cat. But its still 7/10 on the aggressive scale. Extremely smooth and close using an Astra Superior platinum blade. Changing the handle to a Timeless Crown Ti reduces weigh from 3.9 to 2.7    Grip is outstanding. The Muhle head was polished very well. However, the under plate was not polished as much. This is absolutely no complaint from me just an FYI. Who ever buys this razor is really going to like it a lot.

First shave with the Z0 tonight. I enjoyed it. I will likely pick up the r41 as well.

Ordered the SS r41. Thanks all for the reviews. I feel also that it is such a classic that it deserves a spot in the den.

I noted this thread and went to the Muhle site but i was not that hot to trot. So I got out my 2011 R-41 and shaved with it to see if I wanted to buy another razor I don't need. I bought the 2011 from a friend a few years back. Probably shaved with it 3 times and put it away. I've characterized the experience as 'like walking on eggs.'

For about 10 years, beginning in 2007, I pretty much shaved with straight razors 95% of the time. I'd do a slant DE (twisted head) the other 5%. Somewhere in 2018 or so I caught the artisan DE bug and began shaving with Wolfman, Blackbird, Timeless. Gradually giving up straights entirely.

So my DE technique began to improve. When I shaved with the 2011 R-41 it was a different experience. A new Feather and a comfortable and smooth bbs shave. I attribute that to the improved technique. So I went to the Muhle website ready to pull the trigger on the SS R-41 only to find them sold out. Put a WTB on DFS figuring someone might have 'Buyer's Remorse.' Sure enough I got a bite and within a day a SS R-41 was on the way to my den.

As soon as I took it out of the package I had 'buyer's remorse.' I never liked the handle on my 2011. It wasn't slippery, but it is just blah ! No art, just a pipe with a bit of nondescript knurling. The SS R-41 handle was the same, but much larger. The thing was so shiny I couldn't tell if it was plated brass or polished SS. Thankfully the huge handle wasn't that heavy, I'm assuming it is a 3 piece hollow pressed together. Anyway ... I loaded a new Feather and shaved.

I got one of the best, if not the absolute best, shaves I've ever gotten in my long life ! My ugly duckling had turned into a beautiful princess ! I'm 4 shaves into this great razor and they've all been wonderful shaves. No nicks, weepers, or irritation, and smooth as a baby's butt following. The duration is plenty long too. So like the old Camel Filters commercial (you have to be old to remember it ) this razor may not be for everybody, but it is the equal of any in my den, if not surpassing them all. YMMV.

Note the thicker, and slightly longer/wider top cap. I've never had a 2013 so maybe that's the difference between the 2011 and the 2013 R-41s ?
