A few months ago, I bought an AS and found the scent wasn't for me.  But several years ago Shawn at CL gave good advice that you can't judge a scent until you've worn it.  With that advice in mind, I used the splash hoping the scent would grow on me.  It didn't.  But when as I kissed my wife goodbye, fully expecting the "get rid of that one" comment, she surprisingly said how much she loved the scent!

In the past, I have kept scents which she wasn't fond of and, in all honestly, absolutely hated (ie Roam).  Because I love the scents, I've kept them around and, with respect to her olfactory sensitivities, I simply don't wear them when she is around.  But the above situation was a first...something I disliked and she loved.  In the end, I decided to keep the splash because it makes her happy when I wear it...and I've worn it 4-5 times.  It still hasn't grown on me but I love seeing that "i know you don't like it but I'm glad you're wearing it" smile on her face.

So what is your protocol when your significant other's opinion is different than yours (in terms of wet-shaving Smile)?

I will agree with that assessment. As a scent maker, I PURPOSELY design scents to change as they are worn. My wife likes all of our scents to one degree or another. Except Black Velvet. She cannot handle the vetiver. She hates it, so I don't get to wear it that often.

I love that answer. In order for it to stay, my wife has to at least be ambivalent about it. If I don't like it, it's gone.

Generally, if one or the other of us does not like a scent, it's out the door.

I get the “I love it, she hates it” but keep it anyway for wear when she is at her sisters for the weekend.  I sure couldn’t do the “I hate it, she loves it” gig though.  My bride loves Drakkar.  I most decidedly do not.  She also loves Polo Green so that is what I wear on a date night rather than suffer through the Drakkar. Got a daughter in law who uses men’s splashes when she shaves her legs.  Perhaps that’s a good suggestion for your bride?

BlackVelvet is the best and my girl likes it a lot.  Lucky me.

As long as you don’t abhor it, I would wear it if it pleases her.

Lipripper, try Lomani Pour Homme as a Drakkar compromise. Trust me as I am a pro with women.  Wink

That's where I'm at with the particular scent purchased a couple months ago.  Had she not said how much she loved it, the splash was definitely headed to the BST.  The "she loves it, i hate it" had never happened before and that's what got me so curious as to what others may do in a similar situation.
