I just ordered one from Italian Barber.  For the price, even if I don't like it, it is definitely worth a try. Smile

Ah but I heard good things about it, you might very well like it Freddy.

The postman came today, I was hoping it's the razor, turns out it's the 4 pucks of MWF I ordered. I didn't feel too bad.. Tongue

Well, I just received my refund from AliExpress as I have not received the razor that I ordered almost three months ago.
I was contemplating ordering one from ItalianBarber, but after taxes and shipping, it will cost me more than I would want to pay for a razor that I have already tried in the original model.

I hope the razor works out for those of you who ordered it. Shy

I wonder if the Merkur Futur might be actually made in China and the factory is just selling "surplus" stock on their own account. I know that on the IB site it says that the Futur is made in Germany but I'm not sure that really means anything.

Seriously? No. They are different units.

Actually it's a good question, I was also wondering the same thing. Still waiting for mine to arrive though. Fingers crossed it's not a Rimei.

From my recollection the clone weighs 20-30g less than the Merkur. The Merkur says"Merkur" "Solingen" "on the baseplate (varying with vintage), no markings on the MingShi.

I don't have the ming shi anymore, but when I pulled off the cap and compared it to my Futur, there were some differences. They are not identical products. Having said that, the ming shi shaved just as well.

I never shaved with a Merkur Futur, but I know several persons who have both razors and the opinion is unanimous: both razors shave very well and very like each other.

They look very alike, of course, but there are differences between both razors: the handle of the Ming Shi/Qshave is thinner, and the overall weight is slightly less than the Merkur.

As for Merkur Futur - they are made in Germany, not China.Sometimes that question comes up in the forums, but the answer is clear.

If you search, you can easily find videos that show merkur's factory. They are perhaps one of the few shaving instrument factories where you can show up, walk in and visit if you want, with no trouble at all. In fact, a friend of mine in Germany already did that - as did several members of the german forum.

Which was the vendor on AliExpress, Celestino? Smile

I bought mine at the "Qshave" webshop on AliExpress. The package had full tracking - and I could always track it either throught AliExpress or the Portuguese postal services' website.
