Thanks for the heads-up Blade4vor! I've been using the shampoo bar for the past month and couldn't agree more...it's VERY good.

Just to update this thread, I tried Coconut and Bay Rum.

Bay Rum: I found this to be a classic Bay Rum scent, reminds me of a Captain's Choice, very rich bay rum scent. It might be my second favorite that I've tried behind Mystic Waters but admittedly, Mystic Waters is a totally different take on Bay Rum than Mikes. It was just as described by Mike and others in this thread and had scent strength of a 5 out of 10. It did not burn my skin one bit. Had a great test with this one and was thrilled with it. Unfortunately, I tried to go to Mike's website to make a purchase of it and it was sold out. I kept my eye on it just a bit too long so I'll have to wait until he gets another run of it.

Coconut: a sweet coconut, i could definitely detect the vanilla in this one. I would agree with other opinions on this one, it is a bit more stout, probably around a 6 or 6.5 out of 10 to my nose. After testing with it and shaving with it, it wasn't something I felt I would want to purchase and keep around. Definitely a nice scent, but for whatever reason, I didn't feel like I wanted to shave with it frequently.

So far my favorite Mikes Soaps are:
1. Honeysuckle
2. Orange, Cedarwood and Black Pepper
3. Pumpkin Spice
4. Bay Rum
5. Barbershop

If the Lily of the Valley had much more scent strength it would be on this list. I still want to try Peppermint and Rosemary eventually and I might just purchase that one when his Bay Rum comes back if they are both in stock together.

Mikes Peppermint & Rosemary is perfect during those warm summer months. The scent is highly desirable to my nose and the cool feel of the peppermint makes it one of my favourites.

Good call, vtmax ! I just popped in here to post the same thing.

If anyone is on the fence about Mike's Rose & Cedarwood scent, JUST DO IT! This is probably the best rose scented shaving soap for you "secret" rose scent lovers out there. I highly recommended it for the the serious rose scent lovers out there, too.(I'm the latter.) This is definitely a rose forward scented soap, but there is enough cedarwood scent in there to keep it from smelling too "flowery," if that makes sense. (or is it scents?) This one is one of my favorite Mike's scents.

Clint, you really should try it as it is a fantastic soap, my friend. Smile

Thank you Celestino fo the recommendation. I ordered 3 soaps, Wild Honeysuckle, Orange Cederwood & Black Pepper and Vetiver to give a try. I will likely give the tins to the girls to give me as a gift for my birthday or Christmas.

Clint I can attest to honeysuckle and orange cedar wood and black pepper being wonderful soaps. I would love to hear your opinions on the vetiver once you get around to it.

I will be sure to update the thread. Since I have Mystic Water Vetiver & Oakmoss and MdC Vetiver, I am interested to see how Mike's Vetiver compares in scent.

I just ordered Peppermint and Rosemary as well as Lime. The last Mikes I want from his normal rotation is Bay Rum. Hopefully I can acquire that at some point and I’ll be set on Mikes.

The tins and refill bars are presented simply and the consistency of the soap is closer to a conventional puck, harder. Many of the soaps today are full of water when delivered and often too soft. His scents are more traditional and easy to understand.

None of them have silly names or half dressed women on the labels. He doesn't prance around with a fake pipe and captains hat or go totally missing as in the case of Tiki or change packaging as many do. Although originally from New York he thankfully stayed out of that tit for tat between two upstate soap makers. Mike doesn't engage in the forums at all.

Part of what makes Mike's Natural so great is his refreshing lack of bulls....

It's actually quite amazing really. I appreciate the simplicity of everything. But ultimately the formula speaks for itself, if you're not into the flash of other artisans.

I'm looking to add my second scent of his line. Just gotta figure out which appeals to me the most.

I was reminded of this post from a "Like" given. My original was the OCBP, and it probably remains my favorite. I've added Lime and Barbershop as well. The Barbershop is a dead ringer for Strop Shoppe Barbershoppe and Maggards London Barbershop, albeit to my nose a bit more natural smelling.

As always, performance is wonderful. Highly recommend all of the scents above.
