Hmm, I've never seen that either. Doesn't hurt to touch base with Maggards though.

I contacted Mike and he said that it is normal oxidation. Maggard also said that this darken area appears in the rest of their stock of Mike's soap.

That's good news.

My Hungarian Lavender puck that I got maybe 4 months ago, direct from him, had the same color and it worked and smelled as normal. I wouldn't worry about it.

Had anyone tried the Coconut scent? How is its strength?

To me the Coconut scent strength was very light, but it smelled nice. I currently have Bay Rum, Lavandin & Eucalyptus, and Peppermint & Rosemary. I love the scents of these three and the strength is medium. I am eyeballing Pine & Cedar.

Pine & Cedar is a nice scent. Heavier on the pine with a cedar background IMO. Great scent for winter, but could be used year round.

How do you like the pine & cedar in terms of quality and strength of scent?

I would say it is mostly a pine scent with maybe a touch of Cedar to round out the scent. Scent strength is about normal, not overpowering but not too light either so somewhere in the middle. Performance of Mike's soap is great and don't think you would be disapointed with the performance of the soap.but you may only want this scent if u like pine. For me it is a great winter scent.

I've been using my sample of Coconut lately and while the lather is freaking FANTASTIC, this scent doesn't do it for me. There's something about it that has a synthetic coconut smell to me. I don't know how else to describe it, but it's just a little off. It might be the fact that this sample is probably over a year old but IDK. I'm not a big fan of fruity or gourmand type scents anyway. You can't deny how great the lather is, albeit it is VERY thirsty. Simply the best I've ever used.

I have to be in the mood for the Coconut scent. It's not an everyday one for me either. But, you're right, the lather cannot be beat!

I think Mike's will be the soap on deck for me tomorrow. Orange Cedarwood and Black Pepper is the bomb.

I love Mike's soaps, but most of his scents no longer do it for me. Probably because Mike's was my most used soaps for a couple years. Mike is one of the long time artisans and is now in a much more crowded field than he used to be.
