Menlo Shaving Nealon Razor - DFS Pass Around

First things first. Menlo was nice enough to enclose for the pass a round three different handles. I chose the 92 mm which is the smallest of them all. The others are 97 mm. I loaded a Voskhod teflon blade. The balance of this razor is absolutely perfect. The finish is beautiful. Everything about this razor is outstanding. I like the compact box the razor comes in. Nothing gaudy just efficiency.  No issues with the handle slipping.
OKay lets get it on. I used Mitchells Wool Fat and an Omega synthetic brush which created a very nice fluffy lather. As usual I have learned (through experience) that two passes is plenty for me with slight touch up when needed. Since I shave every day this works for me. I was slightly shocked when I began my passes that this razor did not feel harsh at all and blade feel was very similar to a Razorock Lupo. After reading other guys experience I was expecting a lot of blade feel. This never happened to me. This is a very good razor. So maybe its the Voskhod blade I am not sure. My face is truly BBS. Tomorrow morning I will use the same Voskhod blade and for shave three and four will switch to a Kai stainless as the blade appears to be a little wider then most.

Using Nivea Shave Foam didn't change a thing as this morning's shave was just as perfect as the morning before. This razor performs very nicely close and extremely comfortable.
Tomorrow morning I will switch to a Kai stainless blade and continue with it on Tuesday which will complete my usage. Tuesday its off to the next member. Menlo has done an outstanding job for their first razor.

Day 3 shave with the Menlo Nealon proved to be a more aggressive but still a very smooth shave. The reason is because I switched this morning to a Kai stainless blade which is slightly wider then most double edge blade therefore producing more blade feel. Menlow Shaving's website in describing this razor no longer uses the word aggressive. I can understand this as it might scare off some from purchasing it. Instead they give the blade gap and says the exposure is slightly positive.

This morning's shave I used: CBL Barbershop soap, Kai stainless steel blade, Omega synthetic brush, Harry's post shave balm and finished it off with Canoe.
I am totally pleased with the performance of this razor and of couse the build quality and finish are outstanding.

Tomorrow morning will be my last shave with the Nealon. I am going to do a side by side.

Both razors are locked and loaded

4th and final shave using the Nealon razor but head to head against the Yates 921 EH razor. I started out using the Yates on the left side of my face and the Nealon on the right. Both razors loaded with a Kai stainless steel blade. As I got into the 2 pass shave I started to mix it up. The neck area then the chin. Picking each razor at random. The shave soap was CBL bergamot lemon and a Phoenix Shaving synthetic brush. Finished off with Harry's aftershave balm and Razorock Puros aftershave.

My conclusions: Both razor shave almost identical. I couldn't tell which razor was which except by the handles and grip. I think the geometry of these heads are the same. That is to say using the Yates EH plate. Both have similar gaps and blade exposures. For the first time out Menlo has done an outstanding job creat this razor. Congratulations and best of luck.
