Menlo Shaving Nealon Razor - DFS Pass Around

Third Shave 

Third shave with the Menlo Nealon razor complete with 24 hr growth and a 3 pass er going up against my Carbon Titan .68.

Blades: Personna med prep

Soap: Mammoth mood indigo
Brush: DG B11 pearl of the stars
Aftershave: ETHOS unscented 

Today I swapped the UFO ti handle for a UFO SS colibri handle. In the end I think I enjoyed the lighter Ti UFO handle the best so far. 

Today’s shave was a bit raw. I think it was messing me up a bit going from the light Ti weight to the heavier SS weight and back and forth. At the end of the 3 passes my face was a little raw feeling on both sides.

Again I found the best angle that worked for me with the Menlo was super steep, pretty much handle parallel to my face. When I would start shifting more towards the cap the shave would start getting a little rough. The steep angle really smoother the shave out for me on all 3 directional passes. With that steep angle, the razor seems to exhibit less blade feel than the carbon did. Auditory feedback was louder on the carbon while shaving. 

Also for those who care about blade overhang, the top cap on this razor extendes out a bit more than the baseplate to cover the blades tabs. 

Tomorrow will be the last shave and I will use the Menlo again with the Ti handle from the second shave to get one last impression before sending it to the next participant Monday. Ti handles or lighter handles in general seem to give me better control during my shaves. Enjoy the weekend everyone!

Today was my final shave with the Menlo. I used a Weber wave handle to get the full SS experience one last time but with a shorter handle (I prefer 80-85mm handles). 

Going back to the Astra SP was the right thing for my face. The sharper blades were not needed for me with this razor. 

I only completed 2 passes because the efficiency of this razor is pretty high and I didn’t have a whole lot of growth from yesterday. Completed a WTG & ATG pass. 

I ended up with a few weepers after the ATG pass today. With my preference being for smaller gaps with more exposure, the larger gap with this razor bit me back and we fought a little the past two shaves with the ATG pass. Not to say that it’s not smooth, but there’s just something about larger gaps and going ATG for my face. Maybe my skins too tight and the large gaps don’t have the same suction effect/experience than some of the aged gentleman out there. I’d say this pass is the true test for most razors for me as it seems to take off most of the facial hair (or at least that’s how it feels to me). 

In conclusion, if your looking for something in between a Charcoal Goods lvl 2-3 blade feel, I’d say this could be your ticket. I found it smoothest when run steep, handle more parallel to the face. Blade tabs are covered if you covet that quality. Best shave I had was on 48hr growth, but that could be said for all of my razors. Is it a daily shaver for ME, unfortunately not. With great efficiency, also comes a bit of risk. And that’s what this razor is all about. Thank you for allowing me to participate in this passaround, razors off to the next participant tomorrow

I got the razor in great shape.
I chose to use a Tibam titanium handle and the Feather (3) uses.
A&E soap
The shave went pretty well on two days of growth. I did a 3 pass with plenty of cleanup. 
The blade got a little bit grabby so I ditched it for a Polsilver which was smoother.
  I didn't notice the top cap seems very light almost like it's aluminum but probably just me. Did anybody notice if the top cap  is different material?

It's stainless steel but just nice and thin.  Glad you are enjoying it!

I used the razor tonight with a Polsilver blade that had some uses, maybe two or three. I like the feather blade in it more.
I was using it tonight I found it was a little smoother if I lifted the handle tad bit which would be with a lower blade angle. I did not exactly ride the cap.
