Eventually it will get tiresome, and a scene will be all too familiar. A new product, hype, race, a new product, hype, race.
Anyway and again glad to have you aboard mate.
My advice is look for a consensus and then decide from there. Don't try to jump every little limited editions that crosses your path. After a while you will have an idea about what things you will like, and what things sounds like hype.
And yes, you can never keep up with the Joneses. If you try, it will just drain you, and something you found very enjoyable becomes a chore. You would need to wake up early, have your fingers on the mouse clicking refresh, or have to be near your computer when a product launches, or you'll be hangging around the BST all the time, more so than the actual forums and you'll be spending more in deals and if unlucky you will realize you got taken advantage off. It becomes an addiction to acquire and no longer an outlet to unwind.
Don't fall for that trap. Your goal is to enjoy the hobby bro, and btw no razor is perfect. Sometimes you'll get the most wonderful and relaxing of shaves from the most humble of products.
Not saying don't buy, it's part of the fun but make sure you buy out of your own desire and research. It's nice to have your own unicorns or white whales but make sure they are your own.
But with all that said, going back to the basics feels like coming home sometimes.
Edit:
Hmm..
I don't wish to sound preachy, my apologies if it came off that way; but by re-reading your question, it made me reflect on my own journey into this hobby. I hope it helps you too, however your experience will be your best teacher.
Best of luck
