Martin De Candre Agrumes!

I love Martin De Candre in all its variations.  It is old world uncompromising superb craftsmanship made by a couple of talented French ladies.

Yes it is an initial investment, but a jar lasts FOREVER, and the lather hits on all cylinders!

This is Agrumes...I used a damp brush to load it for 20 seconds, and 5 tsps of water...added 1/2 tsp at a time.

Enough for 8+ passes I suspect!

I love the stuff, it’s nice any time of year but especially in the hotter months. Couple it with Myrsol Limon for a treat, or l’Occitane en Provence Cedrat, which has a strong orange presence.

It is great in the summer...the MDC Vetyver is probably a better choice for winter!  Perhaps I will use that one tonight!  

Have you used that one Steve?  It is probably my favorite of the bunch!

MdC Vetyver is good stuff!  I pick up almost a nutty smell that you usually don't get from products made from vetiver.  Usually see much more darker scents.

I always found MdC very drying in my skin. Post shave sub par as well. A few years ago this was one of my top soaps...within the past 2 years or so so many artisan soaps have left this soap in the dust though.. Time never stays still...

Oh man...that’s too bad!  

To each is own though...skin type, body chemistry, lather technique, equipment, shaving technique, etc etc...it all plays into the shave experience.  That’s why folks always throw the YMMV caveat out there...no definitive assessment on any soap.

Sorry it doesn’t work as well for you Frenchy as it does for me.  I wish it did!

Luckily for me, the Fougere, Agrumes, Rose, et Vetyver all work for me nicely. Only one I have not tried is their Unscented.

I am pretty sure MDC are the soaps with the most numerous "I don't know why I use anything else" comments. I even had that thought yesterday with a seriously perfect, quick, and easy Fougere shave.

The "Original" is the only one my skin has had issues with (and it was.pretty bad, I have to say). I liked the scent, FWIW.

I've got all five of the scented MdCs, and am grateful I haven't had skin issues with any of them. I'm one of those who often says to himself, "Why do I use anything else?"

I am happy that artisans are pushing the edge with new bases...sego, siero, milksteak, etc...but I am even happier that Martin De Candre doesn’t ever change their original top tier soap formula!

It’s old reliable...like a trusty 1911 that always shoots when you pull the trigger, and packs a tremendous punch!
