I was looking to add a higher loft boar brush back to my den (after giving away several brushes a while ago).
I saw MaineYooper had mentioned he liked the Maggard Razors premium boar knot, and saw that trotterhandcrafts.com said the knot was comparable to the Zenith boar knot (but said it was more focused in lathering than the Zenith knot). So I ordered the Maggard Razors boar knot.

Due to a packaging error, Maggard Razors sent me their synthetic G5 knot instead. I was thinking I would try a G5 knot down the road so it was nice to see a G5 knot in person. I contacted Maggard Razors and they said to keep the G5 and rushed a boar knot to my home. They have excellent customer service! I had a second handle that I could repurpose so I pulled the knots out of two handles and replaced them with the G5 (left) and the boar (right).

I did a few hand lathers with the boar brush and I probably could have shaved with it out of the box. I look forward to shaving with it this week.

I shaved a few times with the G5 and it is a very nice knot. My Muhle STF knot has been shedding a little bit and I may have it re-knotted. The G5 will work fine in the mean time.

Isn't that boar something?! I think you'll be very happy with it!

Thanks Eric!

I look forward to trying it out for a full shave tomorrow (if all goes well).

Now I just have to figure out which razor to use. Big Grin
