Mühle R41 Ti incoming

The reviewer seemed more ecstatic about being able to view and handle the goods in person, plus inspect for scratches,
not pay customs duties etc....who can blame him?

Probably been shipping in all his razors from outside UK, so he is noticeably thrilled.

I would still like to purchase one. It is great that Mühle did choose to produce the Ti model, even if it is currently unavailable in the US.

That's lighter than the zamak version which is 84g. Maybe a bit too light.

Too light is the reason I finally came to the conclusion that I don't prefer Ti. Perhaps if all I shaved with was Ti, but I'm used to SS or brass, and for my particular hand that is preferable. YMMV.

Sure, but sometimes added weight just makes it easier to work with. The way the R41 likes to skip around, I have a hard time imagining I would enjoy and even lighter version.

I managed to snag one of the London Edition Titanium R41's and posted my initial impressions on ATG.
The razor is well balanced and I think hits a sweet spot in terms of weight at about 65g. The handle has similar girth to the Rocca but a smidgen longer and suprisingly heavier than the birchbark handle. The garosche knurling pattern is not very deep, and although I do not find it an issue, some will, I suspect. The razors voice is much louder than the standard 3-piece zinc alloy R41's. If you have a SS or Brass Karve and then switch to the Ali you will recognise the pitch of the feedback immediately. The feedback through the finger tips is also greater than the chrome covered brass handles of the standard R41's. I would say there is a smidgen more blade feel, but this could just be adjusting to the weight of the razor. The etching on the top cap can not be felt through the finger tips, it feels smooth. Objectively the razor does not offer anything over and above it's zamac counterpart; I prefer the voice of the zamac version, being slightly more muted, and I also prefer the feel of chrome on my face over and above stainless steel, aluminium, brass or plastic. You can also get a lighter R41, if you go for the acrylic handle models that come in at about 50g. I would say, Muhle got it right with their zamac R41's, with a chomed brass handle, the addition of a brass centre post a few years back, and flawless chrome plating - I doubt durability will be an issue. Although the Titanium R41 is still a superb shaver, I have to say the standard 3-piece R41 remains the one to have.

I would still like to acquire this Ti model for my son’s upcoming birthday as a gift. Wrote Mühle UK via Instagram to no avail. Truly hope they release this Ti version in US at some point in time.
